How do you guys make coffee in the mornings?

One buddy brings a Kurig machine, and fires his generator to brew coffee, this is not a great method IMHO. Last weekend we used a percolator on stove (one of those blue metal types), and it needed to be watched constantly so it didn't boil over.....you want coffee asap, so turn stove up to heat water faster, but you have to be ready to turn it down to rolling perc at first sign of boil, or it will boil over getting coffee grounds inside stove..... I'm thinking of going French press route, slight downside is most of these units are small volume....

Any coffee brewing tips/tricks out there?

I use a single cup pour over coffee method. But you can get the 10 cup one as well from Walmart. Biggest plus is the clean up over a French Press, use a disposable filter and toss the filter and grinds away when done.

Running a generator for a Keurig is straight up nuts.
    This is what i do

Remote start generator, make toast via toaster and coffee via coffee maker, shut generator off. Expensive if you don't already have the generator but it produces the best results.

If i am backwoods tent camping with the boys, its coffee press.

Rhino hose > everything. It fits in the square bumper too.
i have the Rhino hose and mine fits in the square bumper. the fittings just go into the storage at the back of my trailer.

the grey fitting that goes into the dump end of the hose comes off.

i also use a clear connector on the trailer end so I can make sure that the tanks are clean when i'm done flushing them.

Not sure I want to watch logs flowing downstream with the clear fitting.

You don't actually see the poopies and the water should be whatever colour of the chemical you use. Its actually pretty helpful to know the water is clear.

Finally picked up my BlueOx sway pro hitch yesterday.... made a huge difference over my old hitch.

Plus I can say watch your tongue weights... I know it’s been discussed a lot on here but I had collected a lot of crap in my trailer over the years and wow can it add up....

For sure, it's easy to overload these trailers, and many trucks, just 20lbs at a time.

Glad you like your hitch. I'm still running my cheapie Curt square bar model. Really should buy the longer bars to clear the propane tank cover easier, but I'm cheap so I just sliced the cover to make the short bars fit.

So the sealant on my roof is starting to crack and apparently I should use dicor sealant to repair. I was reading that it's not compatible with tpo roofs after 2012. My trailer is an 06. So it should be good to use? How many tubes of the stuff do I need? Probably have 20 or 30 linear feet to redo.

Sounds like minimal prep and the new coat can go right on the old?
i love eternabond, its fantastic stuff, its spendy but works great... (buy it off ebay or amazon, local shops will bend you over for it)

agreed, i have a dual flush that has a clear elbow, its a lot easier to see when the tank is empty than try to feel, listen, or just guess... also you can see when its clean if you're trying to flush out the tank.

I took over 200 lbs of tongue weight off yesterday.....

I had a basic Reese WDH that I used for 12 years with this trailer but the blueox is in another league. I have a couple longer trips this summer that should make drive that much better.

You can get a 1L insulated french press from MEC as well if you're wanting to make larger volumes:

If camping in a big group we have definitely fired up the generator in the morning to make a few pots of coffee. If just me and the wife, french press does the trick.

I've convinced my kids toast is impossible. But then again, I'm the guy that took the tv out of my trailer.

Curtain issues: anyone else experience this or have a solution....

Head of our bed is right below very front of trailer, and there's a curtain on a rod just above the bed. The pillow against the curtain always pull the curtain rod down, and in middle of night don't feel like turning lights on to fix it.....then early am it gets way to bright in there!

If the bottoms of curtains were on another rod it would stop them from flapping out and getting pulled down by pillows against them.

I can't find the very narrow gauge curtain rod anywhere. I've seen some old trailers had a thin cable through bottom curtain holes. Where do you get that thin rod or cable made for curtains? Or is it just re-purposed wire?

    Any other suggestions?

Velcro sewn to bottom of curtain and 3m Velcro stuck to trailer wall?

yeah velcro is probably easiest, for the wire you could just use a normal piece of electrical wire and screws at either end, pretty simple, but then you have to have a pocket on the bottom of the curtain for it to run through., i personally got all our TT windows tinted as well, helps a lot with sunlight/heat

My 5th wheel can’t fit in most non powered parks so I’m always stuck hooked to power with fresh coffee and toast every morning...
