Compare AB ICU trend vs Ontario ICU trend. And you will understand why health care pro are scared.

We are 2 weeks away from repeating shit show in Dec.

Of course, we put on the brakes again, and we won't hit those numbers and everyone will call it fake news.

And people keep dragging P1 in which in itself keep landing healthy people in ICU.

I'm not opposed to the restrictions, and I'm hoping the ICU cases stay stable. I just needed a visual (chart) to compare rhetoric to data.

So fucking stupid. We're going to go back to step 1 restrictions again and expect different results than the last two times.
That’s the classic case of insanity. I don’t fucking care anymore, let society burn and take everyone (not everyone) down with it. People’s livelihoods are at stake and Canadians are happy to just roll over and die. People looked back and asked why Hitler wasn’t stopped by the people, history is repeating itself but in a different form.

May long weekend baby, golf is on.

I can't help but laugh, and cry and just be outright pissed off.

Everytime they do this, the amount of clients we have that cancel far outweighs the number of new members who join when we open...

Allowed to open for less than a month... Such a fucking joke

I'm really sorry to hear man. I have a few clients in your shoes, and a few of them already went under. Brutal.

Its easy for people to cast aspersions when their income and mental well being is not affected by these ridiculous policies.

Completely missed what I was getting at. If people are violating health rules, then how can it possibly be that "the state is trying to overstep and violate it's own law and your rights”? Where is the overstep and violations of law and rights? That this happened at a church is irrelevant to my initial question.

Do the police need a warrant to enter a building where the public is allowed to enter? Would they need a warrant if they could observe people breaking the health measures?
Health guidelines/suggestions are not enforceable laws. Maybe that's the confusion. And health guidelines do not supersede your Charter Rights and Freedoms.

So far ICU curve matching the case curve. And I have a feeling people is gonna give this lock down even less respect than the last 2. So it's a race to give a jab to everyone on this one.

Did anyone notice they have changed the goal posts in terms from hospitalizations to vaccination level.
Of course they did. They started panicking when hospital cases kept dropping, "Oh shit! How are we going to keep these fuckers locked up now?" "I know, change the goal posts again............even though we weren't following our own goal posts to begin with."

I'm not going to outright defend the restrictions, but the last time we saw these in place there was a marked reduction in new cases over time, no?
Which has been a known useless metric for like 9 months now.

I'm no expert, but I suspect there is a fairly strong correlation between the number of raw cases and the number of severe outcomes/deaths.
    Yup, you're definitely no expert.

The interesting thing has been the discourse of small businesses and other affected organizations that seem to have taken up the stance that, as a private business, they are not subject to the rules and laws that are a condition of their operation. They've essentially taken a stance that is akin to Freeman on the Land (or other pseudo-law positions) and are effectively daring the government to do something about it. It's an interesting game of chicken.

As they should be. The government is in place simply to enact the will of the people. I don't know of many people that have a will to see small business owners go bankrupt and ruin their families. And for the cocksuckers that do actively want that, they can choose not to spend their money at those small business'

I like how they say that the wait times are overwhelming at hospitals.... I drove by Rocky view ER on Saturday and Sunday. It was empty.... One person outside having a smoke.

With Canada 1 million confirmed at 2.3% death, its definitely worse than any flu of the last few decades. But I can imagine there are plenty of people who already had it, didn't know about it, or just didn't tell anyone that they felt sick, so we might actually be a lot closer to the end of the first variant.

I still think it was prudent to shutdown for a year, but then again - I'm definitely leaning towards old fart.

I think if there's one thing we've all learned is that health care capacity is not something that can be measured and benchmarked numerically. And even if it could, you couldn't use those benchmarks to compare changes over time.

They way they measure wait times is definitely driving by and counting smokers outside. Not how long one actually has to wait whether for emergency or other services.

I have a few friends in the PLC ER and they say they are overflowing and have to transfer people to other hospitals.

Seems like the new restrictions are really open for interpretation. For example my kids have dancing in person right now, and the dance studio sent out a notice basically saying nothing is changed, in person activities still allowed. I clearly heard no dancing/singing/performance activities, the dance owner heard - none of that for adults but its ok for kids to do it.

    This.

This is my concern. A few in this thread seem to be assuming that these variants are no worse than the initial virus and that vaccinations will protect us from them. I think the health officials are correct in not basing reopening on that assumption and prefer to err on the side of caution, especially since we just had Easter. Can almost guarantee that in a few days the numbers will climb.

It seems to me the largest concentration of the covid is in the hospitals so the logical action to take should be to shut them down until the numbers drop. Stats are infallible.
