Indeed. This might be the reasoning for sure, now just need to figure out that elusive alternative to cars.
I’ve slowed down on cars and watches. More energy spent on shoes lately to get that dopamine fix especially since it’s way harder than pre Covid. It’s a lot fucking cheaper haha.

Some of this is right, some not. I do like the dopamine/adrenaline rush factor, but cars definitely make me happy. Only issue is I am only happy for a short period of time after the purchase rather than long term. Definitely need to figure out a different way to get the 'rush' that can provide some longer term happiness.
. I think you gotta do some more readin' on this one hombre - that's literally the definition of a dopamine hit & addiction culture, which also describes your recent comment on fatigue.

I definitely should check out the track at some point. Have driven a Huracan in Vegas on track and didn’t enjoy it that much cause the employee clown beside me kept braking for me.

And @Pen knock yourself out bro.
When we went to that, we intentionally stayed away from the big money cars because I didn't think there was any way that they'd let some asshole off the street take a 488 to 8k and trail brake through a hard corner.
We drove the AMG GTS, Audi R8 and the Nissan GTR and they let us give them a good run. Plus, we got like triple the laps for the same money. My wife fucking blew by this bright green McLaren thing like it was getting a parking ticket! So, so fun!
I'm no racist, but I've certainly had some track time compared to an average dude and I could not believe how quickly they told me to mash that throttle so soon after the apex of a turn. I practically argued with the guy and he was like "fuck off - punch it!"

Man, this brings back some great mammaries. I ended up on that trip completely funded by a wealthy benefactor who was kind of doing a "living will" sort of thing so we were essentially obligated to spend far more cash than we normally would and that experience delivered in spades.
    Good times!

I've had such a terrible day today and this helps bring it back up. Thanks @shak

Of course they don’t let people drive 10/10 in the big cars.

For one, you hardly ever trail brake a mid engine into a corner. Good way to pendulum yourself.

FR layout, trail brake all day

At least I'm not at fault... RIP S8N.

Freshly rebuilt 01E, fresh belts and top end, brakes, all fluids, and manual swapped... annoying!

So then I took it out on the S4 and promptly killed the 5HP19 maxxing out the E85 tune. Time for another manual swap.

What replaces the S8 you say? Well I feel it's my duty to be resident VAG masochist so this will be coming next:

    V10 TDI

What are you doing with the S8? Parting it out?

Also, yes to the Touareg! I love mine, even though it's got the lowly VR6.

v10 TDI is best EVAR. I have always wanted one but don't have the time or patience to be sorting out electrical shit on that thing.

RIP S8. Love your loyalty to the VAG.

I'll buy it back if it's a w/o. Zero parts are available in north america (although everything is available new from Audi Tradition) so I suspect they'll w/o even if damage is below the 75% threshold. Value of the car has been assessed at approx $20k.

From there I'm not sure. It's not a lot to fix up, but the salvage title would be annoying. No mechanical damage, but needs both fenders, hood, bumper, valence, associated bumper mounts and paint.

Awesome car to drive with a 6 speed, especially with the 4:1 center diff. And S8N plate works best on an S8. Repaired or parted out, either scenario I think I'll be OK. Only 250 of these sold in 2003 so would be nice to keep it rolling.

Helps when your GF wears the pants and is a 'journeyperson'.

This V10 I found is mint and has all the goodies like the center and rear diff locks and even the original window sticker. It's from Yellowknife and the undercarriage is cleaner than cars 1/4 the age.

But yeah, banking on dropping the motor and trans at some point.

NWT cars are clean since they dont salt the roads (too cold for it to work). Just not a very large pool of cars to choose from up there though.

Could also go the JDM import route for a W12 Touareg.

That is super cool. Also, @ the price. Maybe some psycho would buy that car, but there's a shit ton of better options out there for $125k.

Damage doesnt look terrible if its a write off id just buy it back. Rebuilt title after its fixed? Who cares most older cars have that anyway. No biggie.
