I would buy one. I am thinking about one actually but might go a different route. But every review I have seen on these states that they are much better in person than in pictures.
They 100% do, there was a 440i in blue with the chrome grill outline which looked awful beside it, but with it all blacked out it is honestly a non-issue. Plus, if you hate it after a month it is a built in excuse to slide into something else.

Nothing like making a point with styling on a car, and then blacking it all out so you can’t see it.

If you like them go see one in person. There is a Black M2 Competition in the Calgary showroom right now, and I’m pretty sure I saw an M4 upstairs.

    That’s a CS. Only 50 in Canada.

It’s the best car they make, and it’s limited. It was always going to be super expensive.

It’s actually cheaper than adding all the M performance parts to an M2 Competion to “make your own” CS. Hood, Roof, Trunk, Rims. Haha

I already noted that it’s a dubious prospect over whether the extra carbon etc makes it worth 25-30k more. Actually the CS should be a great buy in a year or 2. The M3 and M4 CS’s dropped like a rock in value. Assuming many hit the market.

You almost can't even look at it that way. It would be a pretty tall task to make a CS out of a competition haha. In addition to what you listed the CS has an extra 40hp, entirely different suspension (adaptive vs not), different cooling system, carbon splitter, carbon diffuser, carbon spoiler, bucket seats, different console... it's almost a different car.

CS is supposed to be amazing but it better be for around $100k base price. I would probably still take a lightly optioned Boxster/Cayman 4.0 over a CS however.

    Totally a good point.

Though notably I think aside from a tune the adaptive suspension is the only actual mechanical difference from what I understand (from reading about people who have dug into part numbers etc.). Basically it just has the normal M3/4 tune rather than the M2 detune. I’ve spent a sickening amount of time recently reading into the cars.

Aside from that it’s a whole lot of carbon and weight savings. Which is the entire CS formula ( which is awesome ).

The M cars are now totally stratified, you have base M, M competition, and M CS. With a few specials like GTS thrown around.

Haha nothing like making regular M buyers feel like chumps.

I wonder how much BMW makes on the CS models since they seem to be heavily performance engineered compared to even the competition. Like does the 1000 cars worldwide or whatever it is pay for the extra costs associated with it? I assume it does.. the big automakers rarely make vanity cars anymore. All about the bottom line

Side note - The f80 m3 CS's are some of the nicest cars out their IMO. The exterior colors available were just beautiful. San Merino Blue / Frozen Blue.. so nice

My guess is the price delta is almost pure profit and the cars really do just have bolt ons, minimal new engineering if a lot of it wasn’t already done trying to dial in the rest of the M cars. Plus halo cars help sell the models below them.

I am stoked BMW makes the CS’s, I think it’s exactly what their M cars should be, even if I can’t personally jump the value delta in my mind.

I’d love to own one some day.

Oh yea, totally agree. Make however many notches on the totem pole you want. The CS's are all super cool. Ill be lucky to buy the regular m's and swap some CS wheels on and tune it haha

Amg is the same. Base AMG is just an appearance package.

I wasn’t even talking about the “M package” cars below the M cars.

Companies that aren't afraid to dilute the sub-brands, wont' hesitate to dilute them further and further. M badged SUV's and M appearance packages are as cynical as any Mustang SUV.

I guess at this point, the people who are surprised are the ones who should feel stupid.

Funny thing is, the Mach E is actually apparently very good from a driving dynamics, sporting perspective, and is actually quite on-brand (and that's just the base model that's available to testers now, not even the performance oriented variant(s) which will likely be better).

didn’t assume it if I stated it. That’s why you always need to state your preferred pronouns.

ES is clear from the assumption police.
