Cbc also says he used to brand himself as a social progressive before this leadership campaign. That's either quietly positive or disturbing, depending on your personal views.

Seems a bit cynical at least to be so malleable.
If pretending to be woke is what it takes to get a fiscal conservative in to power, then so be it. I have never understood these conservatives that pander to their base. The typical old school conservative that hates fags, loves jesus, and doesn't approve of women murdering babies. Is not helping conservatives win any seats. Those people have no other choice but voting conservative regardless how "progressive" the leader is. He is still going to be less progressive than any Liberal or Socialist thief. Conservatives need to play the game and start winning the educated moron vote.

So far what I am reading about this guy sounds like out of all the CPC leader possibles, he is the one that most closely aligns with my personal beliefs. I just hope he can pull it off on the federal stage and get us going in the right direction. Time will tell.

I’m surprised Mackay didn’t win, but I think this is the best outcome personally.

I like that o toole has a bit of a mouth, we need someone who will call out the Liberal BS and speak more relatably to Canadians. Neither Mackay nor Scheer fit that Bill.

The beat way to beat the Liberals is to keep hitting on them being completely out of touch with the needs and wants of everyday Canadians.

This will make it harder to win Atlantic Canadian seats, but it’s Ontario and Quebec seats we need anyway.
Is this a thing though? I'm not sure it is.

    I’d agree with this.
I just spent a good hour reading through his platforms and I’ll be honest I liked a lot of what I read.

He seems to have a good grasp on many topics.

Plus the fact he is former military, highly educated and from the East will hopefully help.

The problem is you need to placate these people enough to ensure they don’t form a splinter party and suck votes away from CPC.

You think it’s hard for CPC to win an election now, imagine if all the safe conservative bible thumper seats in AB and Sask were now battlegrounds too.

    It’s a fine line.

If you don’t think the liberals are out of touch with everyday Canadians then I guess agree to disagree.

Note, I don’t consider loudmouth libarts college students in Toronto to be representative of everyday hard working tax paying Canadians.

While Trudeau is going to get a lot of support for being so quick to institute CERB which helped a lot of people, his non-Covid spending and planning is pretty out of touch. Things like his expensive wooing of the UN for a council seat should be easy pickings to go after for the conservatives

I think that the average Canadian cares little about deficits and increased taxes if they feel there is more social support. I think if you ran right now on cutting spending you won't get anywhere. It's a tough balance. Can the conservatives with O'Toole woo enough moderates away from the Liberals? I am not sure.

You've never let that stop you before and this doesn't even crack the top 50 of things you don't know so I'm sure you'll be posting extensively in the coming weeks.

Winning seats in the east and gratifying Alberta are two mutually exclusive endeavors, regardless of party or leader.
Well what if he succeeds in giving every province more autonomy and more money just like he promised Quebec?

Sounds like perfect kind of Federalism.

Pssh, I think they should just make a party with more Azns. Then maybe we could actually get to policies that will affect growth, like splitting up the rest of Canada amongst citizens so that they can actually produce something. As is now, none of the parties in the USA or Canada even have that on their radar. Literally the only thing the USA cares about right now is the numerical value of the stock market. Which is primarily a white issue, because they actually have 10x the wealth tied into the stock market performance through their 401K.

As far as I'm concerned left and right means nothing, because its not addressing issues that I care about. That and they should be converting Natural gas into solar panels instead of Natural gas into worthless crude. As an Azn with natural born ability to see inefficiency and waste, this is the big one.

Its like how government policy can be changed to "lets lower the interest rate so that borrowing is easier and more affordable" Well, technically that has absolutely zero effect on 70% of Black america that does not have access to bank credit. In exactly the same way, I have seen basically zero attempt to address issues that will improve the life of my particular demographic in Canada, of which I can easily blame Rob Anders for 17 years.

Worrying about whether a wall should be painted red or blue, when what I care about is having a wall of my own so that I can decide if its even worth painting.

Surprise of the day..... Erin O'Tool is actually 1 year younger than Trudeau? Sure doesn't look like it.

That right there is the difference between a man who was in the military and had to work his entire life in a stressful environment versus a trust fund baby who get facials all day while practicing yoga and no worries about how to get by in life. lol!

Seriously though, I thought Erin O'Toole was in his 60's! I was surprised to here he is younger than me...

Liberal attack starts, tying Sloan to O'Toole

In the meantime, Bernier calls him "Liberal-Lite"

So may be he's the right guy after all.
