If you really need the third row every day, most SUV's are awful. You really need a minivan for that use-case, but people love buying the wrong thing.
That's true. With a couple of exceptions...the Atlas being one. I think the QX60 might be another.

Ascent is decent if you are 6' or under. But Subaru is probably not your cup of tea.

Interesting, I'll check it out. I don't care about brand.

I was helping a coworker shopping for a Odyssey replacement and surprised how easy to go in an out of 3rd row. Storage space sux when 3rd row is up, can't beat Atlas on that one, that's only reason they went with bench 2nd instead of captain chair. So all 3 kids can be in 2nd row if they need to haul a bunch of luggage and stuff.

My in-laws' Atlas is supposed to arrive either at the end of this month or in February. During the test drive and just trying it out in general, I was quite impressed with their higher trim with the massive digital cluster and infotainment and overall 'upscale' feeling of it in general. I never went to Kia or Hyundai with them but they had also liked the Telluride and whatever the Hyundai equivalent is called. Ultimately they settled on the Atlas due to me preferring it

Can you even get Tellurides right now?
Im not sure if you can or not, everything is a wait right now to my understanding, we got lucky when we bought ours and someone cancelled an order and we got it with 1 month wait

For 3 row performance your correct options are Minivan or Full Size half ton SUV.

Everything else is some form of compromise
Minivan i will agree, for full size suv if you compare what you get you get very little unless you got to a XL version for extra space, all you gain is tow capacity ( i beleive the Tahoe actually has less interior space due to frame than its smaller SUV comparison if i remember correctly when we were looking)

I was a bit worried about the captains chairs with three kids and the luggage issue. Turns out it's not an issue at all. If we are going to the airport or something, then we put one kid in the third row, with the second third row seat down. You can pile a ton of luggage into it that way. I'm going captains 100% for the next car too. Captains also make the third row much more usable, for getting into, but also so you can stretch out in between the second row seats and feel a lot less claustrophobic.

Three Row seating, captains chairs, lots of storage room and glorious noises when you step on the throttle with those new lesbian boots you just bought. Get off your wallet Buster, you may hate Dodge but maybe a Hellcat in your garage is just what you need so you're not such a miserable fucker.

I'd consider a Durango. My wife would not.

I tried to get her to test drive it, and she walked into the Dodge dealer (where the sales guys were standing by a popcorn machine or something?), and literally did not get 6 feet in and turned around. Didn't even get a chance to talk to any of the sales bros. She walked out, got back in the car, and told me never to take her to a Dodge dealer again. That was that.

Borrow my Trackhawk for a day, let your wife drive it, if she approves, go buy the Durango and leave her at home.

Yup. In "Auto" mode with the Eco button pushed, it's quiet, softer suspension, shifts early, dials back hp to ~500ish for normal driving. It will default back to auto and eco mode after you drive it in sport, track, custom etc. so you don't piss off the wife after you go hooning. If you don't like eco mode because it's too soft, it will default simply to auto if the eco button is disengaged while in auto.

    Hopefully that made sense.

Dealership experience is important in the market. Lexus makes a lot of hay on it. Car ownership is the product, not just the car.

In my wife's case, that was only part of it. The dealership experience and her first impression of the sales bros and a floor covered in popcorn affirmed her preconceived notion about Dodge as a brand, however. She looked at me as if I had asked her out on a date to Ricky's Diner. Her words were: "I don't want to be a Dodge person, and never ask me again."

That almost makes up for her not knowing how to use HVAC controls.

Not going to lie, going into CMP checking out Caddy and ended up the test drive was basically being a chauffeur for the sales guy because he forgot something at home was probably the most bizarre experience.
