At the end of the day, I really hope the UCP can deliver on what they've said to improve investor relations and get our product to market - the entire province would be better off. All this chest-beating about equalization payments will likely be mostly talk.

End of the day, my worry (rather apathy) is our current cumulative "problems" will be blocked by the same factors that stand now, and it'll always be someone's fault if they don't happen. I really hope that isn't the case.

oh yeah there's lots of shitheads out there and all minorities seem to catch a lot of shit. Outside of the maybe the hood or maybe on a res how often to white guys get openly attacked specifically for being white?
They aren't specifically attacked for being white males, but just for being there. You've obviously never spent much time in rough nightclubs or out on the street after sporting events wearing the wrong colors. Or even just walking the street where groups of people congregate after drinking. There is, was, and always will be massive amounts of negative interactions in such circumstances, and little of it has anything to do with racism/gayism/whateversim. It's just people being assholes, which while I did agree can be targeted at minority groups, it isn't always, or even most frequently. Again, people of all color/creed/whatever catch shit from assholes, for all kinds of reasons, and in my experience, pretty much NO reason at all.

I don't think anyone said dislike. His reaction is ridiculously way over the top. Literally nothing will change in his life except lower corporate tax rate on his trucking biz.

So of course we'll poke fun at him for that.
Haha, I was expanding into the states regardless. I just had to make a very aggressive politics post

I was part of the issue this election, I didn’t even vote.

Reality is that it will take more than a year for oil to “rebound” per say and get busy so I might as well fuck off to the states to work while it is booming down there.

Exactly. Barely anyone says that shit anymore, let alone as a common insult.
Maybe in your swaddled academia that's what its like. In the real world, not even close

Like I said he dresses very well and rather flashy. His rather feminine mannerisms likely outed him too. A lot of gay people aren't very difficult to spot.
Wait, I thought that the argument was any ol' person could be gay and that they didn't do those things you said? That's mighty homophobic of you to suggest gay people, I dunno, SEEK attention about their gayness.

Yea, I was surprised by the comment, because you aren't very "PC" on here. Reads a lot better in jest

Honestly I think it will take changes at the Federal level to move the needle significantly on O&G, I don't think any of the Alberta candidates will do much of anything.

Fortunately there's going to be a federal change over soon enough. But I agree, nothing Kenney can do until then, except yelling and pandering.

The same power that will allow Fed to do anything they want is the same power you don't want to give the Feds.

    Unfortunately.

And what's your reaction to this behavior? Actually, don't bother answering the question.
I don't know what that's supposed to mean? It's a word, wtf do I care about what people say?

Yeah i suppose that's a common insult the difference, in at least my friends case, is that it was more them just a single insult yelled at by passerby it was being single out and attacked for being gay.
I never meant to insinuate what you said was untrue. It just reminded me of all the news stories I've seen where someone claimed hate crime because they got yelled at from a passing car.

But I think it is a little out to lunch for the fear mongering lefties to be flooding the internet with their tears, talking about how these one off ultra rare incidents like what happened to your friend, are going to become common place now that Kenney is the leader. If some people are legitimate biggots, the government isn't going to change that. They are who they are.

The level of upset people get over words is amazing, hard to imagine how some people function day to day.

Was at a “party” one time with some friends of my wife’s to pay board games, and a guy accused his friend of being a f**got for picking the pink game piece. All was in good jest between friends, pretty standard shit. Then this one SJW girl at the table ran out of the room and started crying in the bathroom. Then dragged her boyfriend out of the party because it was too toxic of an environment. Supposedly she has done this in the past when someone used the word rape to exclaim how bad he beat someone in a video game. Again, that’s pretty standard shit. Needless to say I stopped attending those events, some people are too volatile to be near. FWIW I really wish I was making that up.

Moral of the story is I don’t see the value to anyone of banning words. Fuck we get too offended by anything these days. And I think it really starts to detract from the condemnation of truly hateful speech and actions.
I've been called a chink, immigrant, slanty eyes, told to go back to my country, so I've heard it all. Doesn't faze me. You know what stings? When I went into McDonalds today and they told me they're finally out of Shamrock Shake. Those words fucking hurt.

The same could have been said 4 years ago when the NDP was elected. Tons of people on Facebook said they were moving to Saskatchewan, I think even a couple of Beyonders said they were leaving the province because of it. Of course its all hyperbole, and no one actually left...

Except Sugarphreak who decided we weren't NDP enough for his likings and moved to BC.
I was on the edge when the NDP were elected but had multiple close friends leave the province/country and numerous other work friends. I said I’d move if Trudumby got in federally and once it happened I pulled the trigger. Talking to my friends we’ve all said we likely plan to move back once pipelines break ground and the O&G industry stabilizes. So there are actually people who left because of the terrible political situation in Canada. It’s the young, and highly educated (the people Canada does not want to lose) that Canada loses when they destroy industries, not the grumpy hippies or useless younger people (reddit users), or blue collar workers that are the most vocal when the party they don’t like gets elected.

Was scrolling thru facebook and I found a post by a friend who is socialist. Naturally, I expand the comments. First comment is her friend saying they should "actually kill conservatives."

Jesus, these people are out of their minds with hate.

Gas prices didn't go down and Trans Mountain hasn't been built yet. Pretty disappointed when I woke up this morning.
