Unknown hard inquiries on credit report.

I got alerted thru email by Borrowell that I had new inquires on my report. I was away camping so I didn't get them until today.

My Equifax report now shows an inquiry by 'BMO 2203' and 'Canadian Tire Bank'. Both of them reported on June 26 2021.

I don't deal with either. So.... should I start with BMO and CT to see what the fuck went on? Will Equifax do anything?

My Transunion file shows nothing about these so far. That file is all correct.

This is painful. Every time I call Equifax, their system is down. Can't do anything.

I had this last year. I put credit alerts on my Equifax and transunion and I get emails from them anytime anything changes on my file. I had a bunch of applications with my info last year but I haven’t heard anything since July last year.

Got my weekly update from Equifax today. Took my score from 832 down to 812. Sent in the online dispute on July 16.

Thats not too bad last yeah mine went from 790 to 710 in about 3 months and the enquiries took ages.

Yeah i started the last thread, we haven't had any issues since then, but we also moved a few months ago so i am hoping maybe that'd make a difference, give whoever has our info a little less accurate info to try this shit again, we also signed up with Mogo, they have a free service that alerts you of potential fraudulent activity, and free credit score monitoring too.


EDIT, never mind about Mogo now, they just sent an email yesterday saying you're cut off unless you sign up for their visa, fuck that

I got an email from Equifax saying that my dispute ticket has been closed and I need to call the Fraud dept. immediately. Just got off the phone with them. I verified my identity and he asked about a phone number and company named 'Dexter'..... both of which I have nothing to do with.

And so my bureau is marked as fraud and they placed a protection thing on it that requires a phone call to me when a hard inquiry is performed. They are launching a fraud investigation that also includes BMO and CT Bank. Could take a month to get sorted.

Don't put all your trust in companies calling you to extend credit - ive had multiple attempts and the companies did not call me or didnt call me until 3 days later. I often called them first and they said "oh yeah we saw that note on your file and then just went ahead an extended credit anyway"

Figures. Can't really rely on anyone.

Even when I called BMO and told them they gave someone credit using my credit file, they just said "Meh, Call Equifax and get them to deal with it."

Cant imagine how they would use this loan.

People only scam with loans when they can buy something with it to sell onto someone else. For instance I had a hard enquiry from an RV place where they did 100% financing on trailers, the scam is get approved order online and then ship it to some one else after selling it on kijiji.

It will keep happening. Random cards and loans. It's finally slowing down for my wife after half a year.
Just be diligent with it. Once your flagged the companies "shouldn't" be approving anything without proper confirmation.

Also to tag on to this make sure that you add every single enquiry to your case file with the police. Because if someone manages to get credit and the company ignored the alerts then they will get destroyed in the courts.
