I'm looking to get a truck, half ton, wanting to spend in the 15-20k range. What would you recommend that is super reliable, nice to drive, easily would tow a boat etc. Bonus points if you can post a link to a truck for sale

Sorry but its beyond and it is my duty to suggest something thats not even close to your specs lol
joking aside i feel truck guys are very biased from what ive seen on the forums so im sure you'll get everything from rams, f150's to gm's. I dont think there is one truck that is far superior than the other because they all have their issues. You should be able to get a nice ram or f150 for that price, the older gm's were pretty meh inside so i was never a fan. If you're willing to get something a little older you might be able to get a decent Tundra, those things are super reliable but they will lack a lot of creature comforts compared to the same price f150 or ram

The nicest one you can find is the best one when it comes to trucks, especially at that price range I'd think.
I understand this probably doesn't seem that helpful but they're really all the same. Motor in the front, box in the back and a bunch of parts that might or might not shit themselves at any give time.
2007 GMC 2500 Duramax
1981 GMC C1500 454
I recommend this. Checks all the boxes.

Can’t really go wrong with anything as long as it checks out. Lots of fairly low mileage newer trucks are creeping down towards $20k mark in the half ton range. You will have to fight wholesalers like me for them though
Do you need crew cab? If you can get away with the smaller cabs, you save lots because you aren't competing with family guys like me.

Depreciation on half tonnes is massive so you should be looking at something early 201X's with low KMs.
Personally i would look for a 2013-2014 Ram 1500 with the 5.7L. Like this: https://www.kijijiautos.ca/vip/12696392/
With your budget, you will be getting into 8 or 10 speed autos territory. They are far superior to any truck with a 6-speed auto in performance, economy and durability. The rest is basically what you prefer for looks between the major brands. ZF 8-speed Dodges started in 2014.
How heavy is the tongue on your boat? It's a big wake boat, right? Dodge half tons drive great, and that 5.7L and 8-speed combo is sweet. But some (or maybe all) dodge half tons have very soft rear suspension, which sucks for towing.
But dodges are cheap, so maybe just throw air bags in?

After 3 miserable sets of airbags on my last 3 trucks I finally put Timbren springs in my work truck and then my personal truck. I can't put into words how far superior they are to airbags and are cheaper as well, with zero maintenance or failures. The Dodge Timbrens you can actually swap back and forth with the original coil spring bumpstops. No tools needed. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
How much did it effect your daily driving comfort? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
If you hit a hard bottom out with no load, it will be harsh. My F150 carries 2000+ lbs payload daily so it’s not an issue. My Dodge I keep the stock suspension until I have a full load. To install the Timbrens I just jack up the rear of the truck and yank the bump stops out by hand, push in the Timbrens with a little soapy water then drop the truck. Last year I left the Timbrens in all summer during camping season. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Interesting. I need something for my Z71 Crapalanche when towing, but don't want to hurt daily driving with stiffer springs. This seems like it's perfect for me.
You bet. The Timbens are taller than than factory stops, so it stops it from squatting and feels like a sway bar is active while loaded too, unlike humping a beachball feeling from airbags. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
That's a good tip about the timbrens. I have never added anything to suspension, I just buy heavier rated trucks. I hear people talking about airbags, but nice that there are other options.

If you buy a Dodge that’s more than 6 months old be prepared for the constant tick tick tick of the leaking header gaskets.
I’m a ford guy, but for your price range id have to recommend the GM’s with the 6.0. That engine is bulletproof.
...
Nvm, 2014 sierras are strill mostly in the $25k range

Owned a few hemis and had no issues. Good excuse for a good deal and a set of headers though. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
