Default Calgary Veterans food bank desperate for donations

I was not sure where to post this but figured if anyone can assist them that would be great. It looks like they are open on Saturday so my wife and I are going to drop off some food for them. It's sad that countries will call upon men and women for the ultimate sacrifice but can't seem to help them after the work is done.

I didn’t see on their website but do they also accept cash donations?

    They do:

Financial donations can be made in person at our office, via the mail, or electronically via Interac e-transfer. Cheques can be made out to the Veterans Association Food Bank. Interac e-transfers can be sent to [email protected]. Please also send a separate email with your security question and answer so we may access the donation funds.
And looks like this is the page on their site where it allows donations via paypal or card.

I have heard in general food banks really prefer cash donations. Had the head of the Calgary Food Bank explain this once, they have massively more buying power as the food bank than we do buying canned goods at Safeway.

What we get for a buck or more a can costs the food bank pennies to procure. I get that people get leery about money going to admin etc. But a food bank is really a good place to donate money.

Pretty much this. They have a wholesale food supplier and can optimize their purchasing so they get larger quantities of fewer goods. I.e. buy a pallet of soup at heavy discounts.

Yes, you dollars go at least 2x as far giving Money directly to the food bank vs giving them a can of soup. Incidentally, the Calgary Food Bank scored really highly on the charity intelligence scorecard last time I looked. They are a very efficient organization. I believe the Veterans food bank is as well.

Does anyone know the difference between "The Veterans Association Food Bank" (the people linked in this thread) and "The Veterans Food Bank of Calgary" (http://www.theveteransfoodbankofcalgary.ca/) ?

Food banks are one of the best places to send your help. My friend works at ours here and I wouldn't think twice about supporting them.

Google "Harper veterans affairs" if you want to see how a true glorious leader treats veterans.

Shutting down their offices, slashing their funding, taking away pensions, threatening and abusing them for speaking out.
I get that, but it isn't what is happening right now. The current government could have course corrected but haven't, and have made excuses as to why.
