This happened to me too but I took it a step further.

The item was not available by the same seller any longer. The same item was for sale for $55. So they gave me $45 credit to buy it for the price I originally intended to.
you came out 4.5x your initial investment AND got to keep the item. very impressive lol

Was playing poker with my VP last night when someone asked him if he could WFH permanently 1 day a week. The answer was sure in exchange for 80% salary

Not sure if it's a lease negotiation tactic or not but Husky CEO loves WFH.

"We've had over 95 per cent of our office staff working from home — some days it's closer to 99 per cent — and that transition was seamless, it actually worked extremely well," he said, crediting improvements in technology that allow workers to communicate with managers and each other.

"It's early days but there's no question it's going to change the way we work long-term."
Won't be surprised if they implement some sort of hotelling/hot desking work space that IBM and Shell did years ago.

    Any news on +15 reopening?
Nothing official yet as per security at Fifth Ave and Bow Valley, maybe after the long weekend is what I’m hearing at our office.

Anybody had break-ins at their downtown office? My friend had some stuff stolen from theirs. After talking to the cops seems like they’ve had lots of similar instances.

    Probably the cleaning staff lol

I cleared out my office when the writing was on the wall.

I’m sure my liquor would have been gone by now.

Agreed, most office buildings I’ve had access to, usually to buy food has security screening people right at the doors. I know our building has security at night as well so I assumed most do. Only people that can get into offices are cleaners and maintenance, must be an inside job.

Yup, if I were to take a guess, it would be the cleaning staff.

Our building had a string of thefts a couple years back. I had food taken taken from my desk and I heard from other people that their desks were being rummaged through for money and other things. I noticed things went missing the same nights the garbage bins were emptied. Cleaning company was adamant it wasn't them.

... until they saw the hidden video I took of one of their cleaning staff stealing food I left out as bait

For the employers/finance folks: Has anyone received their Canadian Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS) funds yet?

We completed and filed our application April 27th and were told funds would be disbursed May 7th.
Received our funds today for company 1; Company 2 is still waiting.

It’s surprisingly to get access into the offices. Especially some of the older buildings.

What's everyone's company's plan on potentially going back to work? Are they waiting for provincial phase 2? Phase 3?

I know even if they did go to phase 2, many companies are doing it in phases internally. I mean, how are you going to get ton of people up office buildings in elevators? It would take forever. That's a big concern.

Wooooo hoooo....just got a call yesterday, they want me back for next Tuesday. Been laid off since March 23. Expected recall was May 25, so a week early. 3 others in my dept were in same boat but manager says its not busy enough to bring them back just yet.

Well imagine if instead of writing that letter to the editor, she just posts on a car forum for car enthusiasts. That's Kritafo.

Downtown was slightly busier this week. Probably after the weekend will Be much busier. Elevators in my building are 2 people per and have circles on the floor to stand on.

Going to be very interesting how companies handle getting bavk to fill staffing with the physical restrictions in and around the workplace, plus the lack of childcare for the summer.

Ours is 25% of the team goes to the office; you can’t visit other buildings; you can’t visit other floors

Those are the ones I remember

Waiting on property management companies to figure out buildings before we even announce a plan. Gooooood fucking luck to Brookfield in the GTA with that monster of a building, 60+ floors... fuuuck that mess. Plus public transit restrictions... GTA is already beyond vehicle capacity as it is

O&G, not sure company wide but out ~50 person team has basically said that WFH is going really well so they aren't in a hurry to shift back to the office until its safe to do so. Also they're purchasing testing equipment to be able to run their own COVID tests by end of June as well. So guessing they won't shift people back for quite some time, especially since office elevators get packed with people. It's impossible to social distance going up and down.

Anyone have tips on how to make Teams run more efficient? It is a memory hog, I find.

How much RAM is it taking up for you? I've got about 900mb on my tablet and 1.2GB on the desktop.
