In term of history, style, fit and finish, and can buy local, Hamilton.

Always top choice for under $2K from difference reviews.

I was just looking at the Christopher Ward. The C3 Morgan.
I like this, but hard to say without seeing it physically and determining its size.

39mm is pretty small compared to most watches of today. That’s also a very expensive quartz watch imho

I've had a Marathon automatic SAR for over 10 years, it's in that price range. It's more of a "tool" watch than the Breitling you like, but it is a Canadian made case and band which is unique, even has a maple leaf on the clasp, with a rugged and reliable ETA 2824 swiss movement.

A reasonably priced Victorinox I bought from Justin @ GEM years ago is one I've worn pretty much daily. Great quality IMO

I had a look at the Alpina. Very nice watches, very nice indeed. But not quite my style. A bit too soft around the edges.
I find the Damaskos are nice, but too much like Swatch Watches from the 80's.
It is interesting, buying a watch is a very personal thing. Its also interesting seeing peoples different styles on this thread and that of the wristshot Friday thread.

I have this. It doesn’t get used that often due to the rotation but I do love it.
