Oilers' third period effort against the Hawks was just brutal. I'm not even sure if some of the Oilers remembered how to play hockey in that period.

Will fuck off, again.
If we had relegation theys be in the AHL by now.

It's like this season (and foreseeable future) can't get any worse for the Oilers.
Enjoy 7 more years of this, McJesus. It's like he literally, literally signed a deal with the devil. Meanwhile, Auston Matthews signs for only 5 years for $1M less per year.
Not sure if this should be a different thread but this has been a discussion around the NHL for the last couple of days.

What’s your side? Don Cherry’s or the Hurricanes?
Watch the cat for different holiday hats!
Hurricanes 100% Don can suck it.

Canes deserve to get chirped by everyone... like doing the limbo the other day after and going nuts over regular season wins. C'mon... you're professional athletes
This pretty much sums up Don Cherry in general.
Now with that said the celebrations are still stupid.
The Canes celebration things are cringey as hell and watching them makes me feel embarrassed for the players.
Don Cherry is senile, irrelevant, and his views are outdated.
Quiet honestly, I personally don't care what the Hurricanes do with their post game celebrations, but it's getting people talking about the team and butts in the seats, which is something they've been struggling to do for years. Not to mention it's keeping the locker room loose and they're doing well enough to squeeze into a wildcard spot. They're cheesy as fuck, but really aren't that much different than Vegas' intros but without the budget. I say keep doing what they're doing cause it's working for them.
Those post game celebrations are super cringe worthy. Can’t believe the team members are even on board with that.
...
I hate this attitude. Just because they are pros they need to be boring and aloof? Fack, the celebrations may be silly, but either you like them or you don't care. Those are the two acceptable opinions and everyone else can fuck off. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

And I disregard the opinion of someone who never played the sport growing up, so what . I think it is great when players have some fun and show emotion. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
But the stupid shit they do after a REGULAR SEASON win, ridiculous. Win with some humility is what I mean when I say you're a professional. Doing the limbo, clapping, practiced celebrations and parading around the ice like some timbit team that just won Esso week or whatever is pathetic.
As a pro sport club, it typically isn't smart to give your opponent some extra motivation to throw something back in your face.
Do you think as a business it's smart to do things to try to increase customer engagement? That's what this is all about. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Embarrassing or not, cudos to Canes marketing team already on it like no other. Make some money off of T-shirts lol.
Yup. For the fans. It's post game as well and not in game. This isn't football or futbol where they go gaga over every goal scored. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Thoughts on trade deadline? Couldn’t OTT have gotten more for Stone and Douche?

Stone they got VGK best prospect who is a right D man, plus a 2nd and a roster player. That was a pretty good one, I'm sure we will hear some leaks on what other offers were but they did wait until the 11th hour to move him.
They got a solid haul for Duchene, potentially two 1st and two prospects. Even Dzingel they got a good return.
What bums me out is I have a hunch that Flames were super close to getting Hayes and then Jets upped the ante and sniped him. And then seeing how little Simmons got moved for... why the Flames didn't get in on that, really puzzles me.
I'm happy they didn't go dump a bunch of young guys/picks and overpay for a rental but definitely missed out on some value after seeing how things fell. Sadly Stone always felt like a long shot because of the demands for him. I heard rumblings that they came at Flames asking for 2-3 1sts, 1 of Kylington/Anderson/Valimaki and something else. Was just absurd.
I'm so glad we didn't go for Stone. My problem is he would have cost a lot AND we'd still have to sign him to a long term deal to justify giving up the assets to get him. I'd rather focus on signing Tkachuk and Rittich before chasing after big name players at the trade deadline.
Quiet honestly, I'm happy with what we did (or didn't do) today. No reason to go all-in when our window is just opening. We've got the foundations of a really solid team for years to come.
Read somewhere that Simmonds wouldn't waive his no trade for Calgary. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Honestly I'm happy the Flames didn't get involved in the shenanigans today, the hauls for Stone and Duchene were pretty solid. Flames have multiple years with chances to go for it, let his core get some real playoff experience then go for it in 2-3 years.
Stone 8 years at 9.5 per!
