You got respectable and exemption spelled correctly but messed up the word weekly? Dude.
His/her trolling level has gone so deep they are starting to get lost, believe they're real, and even think they offer a coherent or remotely intelligent position occasionally.

This is probably a Forest Gump scaled version of watching AI develop independent thought.

If Alberta/Canada hasn't crashed and burned by 2026, this will probable be the nail in coffin. I'm hoping I can watch from a far away place. haha

I honestly can't believe anyone trains their life away in worthless sports with a goal of performing them in the Olympics. It's such a joke but, not as big à joke as paying 10's of millions of dollars for the "privilege" of hosting them.
    Yup.

Corruption, elitism, commercialism, political grand standing, cheating, etc.

It's yet another thing that started out ok, but has long since rotted.

Well, next week we'll know what's going to happen with this Olympics deal. The initial plan was on April 10th there will be a vote for/against a plebiscite to see what Calgary actually wants. The whole point here with the delays is to try to get a bid out prior to a vote as it takes 6 months according to Nenshi, while the bid needs to be submitted in around 6 months as well. You could argue that a plebiscite would be a waste of $2m with that timeline.

Provincial government put a wrinkle in that plan, now that no further funding will be available without a plebiscite haha. Nenshi being Nenshi, whatever, they should pay for it if they want it.

Sean Chu has a good plan of action though.

Kill the plebiscite next week, that will stop us from spending $30m on a bid.

Chu and Farkas are hilarious. Totally pissing off everyone else. Apparently they tried to kick Farkas out of closed meetings yesterday.

    Sorry not sorry.

He's also trolling the April 10 vote.

I read an article about potential locations written by someone not from Calgary. It made perfect sense. Europe hasn't had a winter games for ages now. Also the same Italian city in this bid was the same Italian city that was contending when Calgary got the 88 olympics...

We should still waste money by bidding though. Just in case.

If anything it goes to show just incredibly parochial our city councillors and mayor are.

If a European city puts in a strong bid, it makes sense to send it there. But maybe the ioc will do like the summer Olympics and award two at once

Didn’t sion already though? I mentioned earlier they put in a bid a year ago and recently got full support from the Swiss government. I think they still have useable facilities.

That’s my guess for who’s going to get it. I know there were talks about trying to get a city in the Western Hemisphere due to viewership but I think that’s a second or third order effect

The Mayor and city council are trying to put this bid together without public consultation, but if I remember right, didn't the NDP say that unless they hold a plebiscite, there won't be provincial dollars put forth?

Yup, which is why there is a vote today by council to see if they want to hold a plebiscite or not. No plebiscite, no bid automatically.

True fact, Olympic athletes are horny as hell, and that attitude rubs off on supporting staff, entourage, and spectators. The Olympics is pretty much an orgy.
Basically, I can surmise from these 2 statements that Nenshi likes orgies.
