It's time to start thinking about putting a home ac unit in my home.
Any recommendations from fellow beyonders?
Thanks

I have use W and J heating twice for AC and referred them several times. Great prices and excellent service.
I used Shift Air Mechanical last summer for 2 A/C units and a garage heater. Everything went perfect and I did price comparisons and it seemed to be the best price for me (not including Kijiji specials).
I had an issue with a furnace and he came by and replaced a part at no charge (even though none of the furnace work was done by them).
I dealt with the owner. His name is Brent.
Thanks! I contacted them. They use Carrier. Pricing seems competitive.
Carrier is Mexican junk.
I used action furnace last year and ended up with a goodman. Their pricing was a little bit more, but I felt better with them taking care of the permit and doing a more thorough check on the sizing required based on windows and square footage. I ended up returning my nest and cover though and installed the nest myself as they did a shit job and the cover was way cheaper from the manufacturer themselves.
I used Friesen at my old house. They were great. Also got lucky and bundled a 10 year parts and labor package through Home Depot.
They carry Trane as well as a re-branded cheaper version
My home furnace is a Goodman.
Thanks everyone, I'll give these guys a call!
Um message Gavin. End of thread.
CHEVROLET= Cheap, Hardly Efficient, Virtually Runs On Luck Every Time.
Our neighbor got an Amana unit a couple of years ago. It was so quiet, I was amazed.
Asked them who they got it from (CSR Home Energy), and we got the same model to replace our really old unit. Have been very happy with it.
Got a York CZF 2.5ton for 1300 square feet. Works great. DO NOT buy Carrier, they are being built by disgruntled staff that are effectively operating with an expiration date.
Gavin is way up there in price and the warranty is only 5years. Go with W&J, they had the best price last year and best warranty.

This X2. I do infrastructure for federal government buildings and HVAC is a big part of what I do. Being government we cant favor any one company and have every brand imaginable in the 800+ buildings I'm responsible for.
Carrier is horrible I've seen:
-units burst into flames upon commissioning (installed professionally).
-Factory wiring not matching the drawings they provide.
-Old foil tape used(or incorrectly installed) that came loose and shorted out (expensive) control boards.
I'm also not a fan of Trane not because of reliability but the cost of their replacement parts are much higher than others and often is proprietary and hard to get or obsolete and require a retrofit kit that jacks up the repair cost.
York or Engineer air is what I always try and get the PM's to put in.

Got a nice Goodman unit with a 10 year warranty.
I can't find a Gavin on beyond...?
I sent you his contact info via email.
The guy behind you installed A/C yesterday with Reliant?

I'm so confused by all this! I've had three quotes with all different specs. I'm in a 2700sqft dual zone setup.
I have one saying 4 ton, one 3.75, one 3.25.
Normally bigger is better, but I'm reading this is not the case with AC units.
Guess it's time to go with the gut?
Also some recommend 16 vs 13 seer... I'm inclined to go with 13 because it's Calgary, and we only really use it for 3 months a year.
Anyone with feedback?
Thanks!
