    Whoa, that escalated quickly lol

I contacted Kijiji customer service and they basically said they can't do anything and wished me luck lol.

I'll call and msg him again this week and basically give him an ultimatum.

You guys think I can say I'll keep his money as storage fee for the last few weeks and disposal charges? Is that fair?

I didn't know mennonites lived on colonies.
They don't in Alberta. People are getting Mennonites and Hutterites mixed up. Hell, Mennonites live all over in Calgary, Hutterites do not.

As for the trailer, OP has done more than their fair share of due diligence. Park it on the street and have a neighbor call it in as abandoned. I wouldn't be wasting my time keeping it on my property any more, it's been sold, you have a BOS, you shouldn't have your plates on it. Let it move on in the most legal way to it's next stopping point.

Calgary parking authority is your only legal solution here.

While there are solutions available like garage keepers lien, pretty sure you don't qualify. And you'd be hundreds in the required registered letters etc.

Alberta abandoned vehicles program same - spend 3-400$ get 56$ back after delivering it to Michener Allen.

Or call parking authority, deal with it straight up tell them the story let them go after him. They'll take it to impound, rack up the fees and toss it on his license renewal. Or toss it on the street call it in as abandoned detached trailer, then when they send you the bill for it - prove you sold it.

Having owned several trailers, the processing and regulation for these seems somewhat grey in the city - ie. room for confusion.

I would call up 2 different registries and ask their opinion before I would abandon the thing on the streets and accumulate fines. I wouldn't want any possibility of these fines in any way coming back to me.

The BOS - the new owner could just say they were forged and never signed by him so I wouldn't rely on just that.

What kind of asshole says he will pick it up a 2nd time and bails? Especially after payment?

    Lots.

I know because this happens with me too. Accepted e-transfer and people leave shit for days, weeks, months...

OP you are being too nice. Tell him a firm date and hopefully spikerS has a new trailer. People are morons. I rather them not say anything than make up dates and bail. In the future, put a firm date on the BoS.

just tell him to send you a picture of his copy of the BoS with VOID written across it, and I will come pick it up tomorrow afternoon.

    OK another update.

Gave sent another message via Kijiji as that's how seems to want to communicate only. On Wednesday, I wrote in the message that I still have the trailer and would like it removed from my property and if he didn't respond to me by Saturday morning (today) that I will assume he doesn't want the trailer.

I didn't mention anything about refunding him or partially refunding him anything, either way, I would tell him that at most I'd give him back some money and keep the rest for storage fee and deposit (as I could have sold the whole package for more than he purchased for).

Would this be legal, or technically enough documentation if he ever tries to get it in the near future?

It's a moot point, IMO. There's no way a schmuck like that is going to go through the effort of small claims/police/etc etc.

Youve done everything a reasonable person could be expected to do. Document this all - sell it and move on.

See that's the thing, I sold the package for less then what I wanted to. So just trying to get what I actually wanted to sell it for now.

Is that wrong? I blew off 3 other buyers (potentially who could have bought it for what I was looking for) and sold it to this guy as he was the first to respond and show up. My mistake for taking his offer I guess.

^Yeah this is kind of a weird exception, or maybe an addition to the rule. First come, first served who not only has cash and hand but can get their shit off my property immediately after the sale.

The flip side to that rule is that it sucks when you make arrangements with someone, drive across town to their house that evening as agreed, and when you get there they say they sold it to someone two hours ago and couldn't be bothered to let you know not to head over.

Why don't you just sell it for your asking price to someone else and deal with this guy later? Chances are he won't bother you again for months, in which case you can do the whole storage fee and partial refund thing. Fuck him and making it interfere with your life this long.

Keep a paper trail of this in case as well.

No, because he said he blew off three other people who were interested and held for this dude.

No, he sold it to the first guy who contacted and showed up, just at a reduced price. The other three guys contacted later but offered a higher price.
