That's a total disregard of common sense, no law can stop that. A bullet will only if you know ahead of time.

1 dead, 6 injured. As expected, no way that sedan driver survived but she probably didn't check her rear view mirror often enough to avoid it.
At that speed, there is very little she could have done after noticing that clown coming up.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Is there a side story that the truck driver was deemed to be impaired? Edit- Nevermind, I see you posted the story link in another post. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
In regards to the comment, they'll never catch them all, and probably only catch a small percentage of them. Until they start deeming breathalyzer ignition locks mandatory safety equipment that is. They can stipulate back up cameras to be mandatory equipment on new cars, so no reason they can't do it with ignition locks. In the meantime they have bigger fish to fry with distracted driving, not that they seem to be doing much about it either unfortunately.
thats not true - some members are writing as much or more distracted tickets than speedingThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I don’t think driver is impaired(was it?). More like a suicide, intent to kill or uncontrollable anger issues.
Car that got rear ended got disintegrated. Feel bad for the innocent killed or hurt. One of the craziest crashes I’ve seen. Nuts.
QFT. About a month ago I was driving my kid back to her mother's house. After I dropped her off and was just about back on to deerfoot, I got pulled over by CPS. Cop asked me why I was risking a ticket for using my phone. I replied I wasn't at all, and went to show him it was in my back pocket, only to realize I left it at home. I even showed the officer that my truck was saying to connect a phone, otherwise my phone connects automatically. I even let him search the truck. He got pissy and said that I must have hid it where he couldn't find it. I don't know what the cop thought he saw me doing, but he was itching to give me the distracted driving ticket, and I bet that if I hadn't forgotten it at home, I would have gotten the ticket. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. If you read further down in the comments of that video, it's posted that the truck driver had several DUI convictions on his record before this incident, and had also led the police on a high speed chase previously as well. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Wow. I think this is one thing that we can probably agree on. Sure there's ways around it and its expensive but how this isnt a mandated thing yet is beyond me.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
If there is some rogue officers out there doing their job instead of following marching orders, I would absolutely thank them for their public service. But those few officers doing that hasn't had a big enough impact to change accident statistics yet, so as mentioned they still have bigger fish to fry with distracted driving as it easily out ranks impaired driving for accident causation. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Every day, it seems like there is something that makes me go: Canada is fucking retarded.
The comments, however, are gold.
I'm surprised it took them this long to completely disregard the intent of this law
I hope those tweets get used against them as part of the inevitable court challenge that is coming.
They already had to tweet a correction

A law designed to catch innocent people is anathema to a functioning democracy.
I wonder if the sc well also strike down the original two hour law as well
This whole thing is a clusterfuck. It's a shame that we'll have to have a few court challenges before it's all refined into a workable law.
Fuck that. It should be entirely repealed. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Next time write a constitutional law the first time around. This is our criminal code not an everyone wins game of soccer without a ball, no participation ribbons.
