Well my difficulty with this particular M2 is that it is a 2016 version with about 3K km's and they are asking $3K more than what a different place is asking for a 2017 version. But at the same time my guy only offer my the value on the X5M that makes sense if I proceed with him and not the other place. Plus there is a whole issue if I truly want to go ahead with the M2. Will need winter tires right away and it doesn't help that I just lowered the X5M and bought a winter set, even tho not installed yet. lol

I am looking at C43's and GLA 45 as well and maybe I should check them out first. But I am sure then the ridiculous trade in offer problem will happen at a Benz dealer.

Have you ever considered doing like 12 month leases of your vehicles?

It seems like getting handcuffed on trade in value on cars you own for very short terms is becoming a pretty regular problem. You had issues getting good value for your M3 for a month or 2 last time around didn't you?

Yea. My plan is to definitely lease next time if I can help it regardless of what car I go with.

S55 is the M3's engine which is pretty different.
depands on what you think is better... they are running about 330whp on a engine rated at 320 hp

but from early reports not great on the aftermarket front... seems like there is new programing in the ECU that is shutting down mods abover 380-400hp even JB4.

So aftermarket could be quite limited on the new BMWs

Well I will personally never complain about a car making more HP than advertised

N55 was the exact same way for years, give the tuners time to figure B58.

I think the N55 has really only just started getting full flash tunes. Same BS as the people who were convinced N54 was better " Because Tuning ". People are making monster power out of N55's now and I am sure they eventually will out of B58's.

I would personally be more concerned about the B58 having un-diagnosed gremlins and potential future issues considering it has only been around for 9 months than i would about maximum JB4 gains.

Well no doubt an arms race, but lately on the BMW front one that the aftermarket is losing ground. The F series ECU are harder then ever to crack... no real flash tune without shipping the ECU to a tuner to drilled and glued then flash tuned and it looks like B58s will even be harder... i wonder when we get back to full aftermarket ECUs again.

For most buyers the harder they make it will make more buyers of $100K plus cars not bother with the aftermarket and just buy another car...

So the last M2 was just a JK, now the real one is coming out!

    https://jalopnik.com/the-2019-bmw-m2...-fa-1825340061

Now comes with the M3's engine, and pretty much everything else.

    Detuned to 404 HP. 0-60 4.2s.

My bet is those numbers are super sandbagged.

Overall, feels great to know that a whole other generation of 2 series owners got bones as bad as I did

Yea looks great actually. The nicely loaded with M Perf Package costs a little more than base M3/M4. Still ruled out for me tho like last time due to size being way too small and tight for my liking.

Is pricing available? Safe to assume we may be able to get a better deal on a 2018 model with a better version coming?

What kind of deal are you looking for? What percentage of discount? If you want I can talk to my SA at Calgary BMW .

It's a pretty sweet car, much more special than the last even if the performance isn't leaps and bounds better.

I'm glad they made this for sure.

maybe? depends on how many they have available i guess. I think the 2019 would be a little more with the added power. I paid MSRP on mine last year.

Alright, so decided not to make a 'what to buy' thread this time and it sort of just happened. As based on this thread, M2 has always been in the back of my head and it's a car I purposely avoided due to the reasons of thinking it maybe too small and tight for me, or more of a downgrade compared to the other cars I've owned. But this weekend decided to go meet my sales guy at Calgary BMW who had left but started there again and who had sold me my very first M3 and asked to test drive the M2 for fun. They only had a stick shift version with snow tires on it but I took it out. Honestly, as soon as I started it (M Performance Exhaust) I was sold. Anyway, absolutely loved the drive and so much better than my F80 M3 in so many ways. The size did not feel small either and I was comfortable. So next thing you know, I ended up buying one. They had a perfect 2018 version (not competition) with DCT and with barely any mileage and MPE on it in Black and I locked that shit down right away. Will be taking delivery next week as they are throwing on snow tires/rims on it and will deliver in Edmonton for me. Didn't want to do stick shift even though it's amazing cause of the odd times when the wife might need to drive it. All in all, excited for this one and let's see how it fares. I am going in thinking I will keep it for a year or so at least. Funny thing was that I initially went in thinking about a 2016 M6 Gran Coupe in Frozen colour but after driving the M2, I didn't even look back.

    Enjoy it. Great car.

Didn’t you think it was too small?

Yup, that's him. He sold me my very first BMW, which was the E92 M3. Glad he was able to sort something out and avoid me having to drive out to Vancouver again.

Honestly, not at all. That was my biggest hesitation which is why I kept avoiding it. But having been driving the GTI, I figured it can't be much smaller than that. It felt super comfortable without any issues at all. We were 3 people in the car during the drive as well.
