People are always slamming cops but if someone breaks into your house or steals your car who you gonna call? Ghostbusters? They're mostly just "pigs" until you need them.
I really despise this poorly formulated and inaccurate argument from people. If you are calling the police, it is not because you need them. The only time you actually need them, they are not around. If I'm calling the police it is purely because an insurance company requires me to get a report from them. The act that I needed the police for has long past and they are simply collecting statistics of my victimization.

This is why so many have a negative view of police. The only experience you have with them is negative for petty nonsense, and they never provide this magical safety blanket that a lot of people like to believe they exist for. Where were the police when my wife got jumped and beaten up by a guy downtown? Oh weird, nowhere to be found. Yet they were right there in full force on numerous occasions to collect revenue from me for safely driving at 15km/h over the limit on the highway leading to 2 separate license suspensions and a hefty insurance premium hike. They are ineffective and their marching orders are completely flawed to produce a goal of a safer society, it should not be a surprise that people recognize this.

Use of force is easier when the suspect has a knife or gun, you just use your taser or gun in response. Taking down a kid on skates is probably harder.
Skates have blades, blades = weapons. Should have shot him.

All COVID complaints should be attended by K-9 units. Video gold in the making.

I would have just been thinking, what would Dale Hunter do and toss on some skates and end it with a cheap shot.

Was Hunter ever fined for stealing the Flyers' playbook and executing their one and only strategy since the 70's?

Pacific orca Ocean could’ve been the first guy to take off his skate and try to stab a cop. Missed opportunity at notoriety.

The increase in awareness of incidents that involve the use of police force (and to a larger extent, restrictions) has revealed a really interesting hole in the collective knowledge of the public.

While I agree that police conduct needs to be strongly and objectively criticized, there are also clearly moments where the subject's refusal to cooperate (usually under the guise of rights and freedoms in Canada and the Fourth Amendment in the US) escalates to the point where detainment is the only outcome and physical force has to be used.

I think education is going to be a crucial part in calming down the frayed relationship that police in general are having with the public. For example:
    - What is and isn't allowed during a traffic stop? What are your rights during a traffic stop? Can an officer ask me to exit a car so I can frisked?
    - What are my rights when I'm talking to police (for any reason)? What happens if I don't comply? What do I do if I think I'm being improperly treated/profiled/violated?

Right now, both sides think they can get away with being assholes because they think the other side either doesn't know or can't act.
