Glad I didn't drive. Traffic looked horrible....fat bike was fine. We'll see how the commute home is.
I go in before 6, didn’t have any increase in commute time

Yesterday afternoon ride was worse than this morning, snowing and cold headwind the whole time and I noticed that I couldn't change the front derailleur, I thought that the cable loosened or snapped.
Once I got home, I inspected the FD and it was all ice haha, let it thaw and it was working again.

Most of my ride this morning was fine expect 5-6 sketchy sections where snow compacts and turns into ice so I just ride really slow on those.

Do you guys ride with snow goggles in the winter? I'm seriously considering it now.

I ride with goggles in the winter. The other tip is...make your winter commuter single speed, solves so many issues.

yeah I thought about it but I have some short climbs on my route and having some gears in the back helps. for the most part I think I can get by with a 39/19 ratio.
if I do end up keeping my 26" beater next year, I will be changing the front from 3x to 1x though

or pick up one of these haha

I just ride with clear sunglasses. I think the bulky goggles would bother me.

I ride my fixed gear most of the time with a 46/16 ratio up 10th street/14th street and up and over nose hill. 39/19 you should be more than fine if you decide to go SS.
Fat bike is rusted to hell and I leave in the hardest gear and haven't shifted it in 2 seasons. haha. On my winter beaters I pretty much wait until they start squeaking to clean/lube the chain....lol.

I ride with a k2 ski helmet that is also rated for cycling and a set of clear goggles. Light balaclava under the helmet.

I've been out riding more now that it's nice out and just to get out, but have you guys noticed more construction everywhere now?

Not on my route from Beddington to downtown.
Was actually surprised that the path along the zoo is open again, it was closed during the winter.

biked from the southland dog park to zoo and back yesterday. I think it was the first time in 5 years to not have a single detour and actually be able to take the path the whole way! what a joy!

The only detour for my commute is by the Inglewood bridge construction. Then there is some construction by Shouldice turning the bike lane into multi-usage. Biking in the N-S direction through downtown is painful, my fuel efficiency drops to 2 beer per km.

Shops are open but they have been extremely busy. Get in line and book it or learn to do it yourself if you need it quick.
