Facebook is probably not the place I'd be getting my information about government travel restrictions or border procedures. Not saying it's wrong, but I'll wait to see that on the offisshull gubbermints weebsitez.
This Chris guy is legit. I think he was on beyond at one point too. He summarizes rules well but either way it’s mentioned here:

So assuming the US follows suit I'm hoping this means I can get one covid test in Calgary, drive down to Montana to pick stuff up and use that test both directions, and then just come home. A test at the border will be random if I need to or not but otherwise no quarantine or isolation? I'm good with that, fuck I hope this works as its been ages since a border run.
US border still closed to non-essential travel. We were thinking of going to see my sister with my parents in August. Now that's all shot to hell as well.

It's funny that the US wanted to open the border but Canada kept saying no, now it's the other way around

We are on pace to get 60% DP while US is stalled at 48%. And they are the one blocking us. lol.

I can’t help but laugh at this.

I called WestJet last Friday on July 23 and after sitting on hold for an hour I did the callback option. Totally forgot about it and just now exactly one week later I finally got the callback.

How busy are these guys that it literally takes a full week to call back?!? Thankfully I was able to make the flight changes self serve later on in the day (self serve was down in the morning cuz of Akamai’s issues) but god damn that’s ridiculous.

The Airlines are not "back" at full capacity in any way. All all struggling with issues like this on customer service and operations.

Their agents are WfH and that is decimating their efficiency. She told me she's only able to deal with about 60% of her normal call volume.
Insane that they didn't redeploy some of their laid off flight attendants to assist, but $$.

you can still fly in ... it is only closed to driving which makes no sense.... cause covid travels in cars not planes

Dontcha know, being on a plane with a bunch of tainted vaxxers will infect you with their vaccine shedding. While driving alone in your car won't infect you with the 5g magnetic chips.

Supporting airlines is important, and something else isn't? I dunno, I never could make heads or tails of that.

These people have been WFH since long before covid, WJ was a bit of a forward thinker in regards to this. So not sure why this would affect their ability to pick up the phone and handle customers?

I imagine they're having an excess number of calls above normal as well that's compounding the problem. There is shit tons of flights continuously being changed. My flight to Cranbrook got modified 3 times before fly day.

I'm convinced they did this all on purpose. Their strategy seems to be the following:

    1) Post up a ton of flights and advertise the shit out of them.
    2) Cancel all said flights after a bunch of people have booked
    3) Fire a bunch of their CS staff despite knowing their CS department will never be busier
    4) Only offer credit for canceled flights (unless you pay double for special fare), and make it a 2-3 day wait time to talk to a CS Rep

They are basically 'farming' people for credit and not actually operating many of their flights.

eg. They had daily service from Calgary to Pairs in September, advertised the shit out of it, then cancelled every single flight. Everyone who booked now has yet another WJ credit that expires. Now they have more daily flights in October to Paris - I'm sure they will be canceling those as well if they haven't already. Rinse and repeat.

well #1 and #2 are happening for sure. Not sure if the rest is a strategic plan or not.

Well at least Ed Sims has acknowledged the issue. I can respect a ceo who can admit they fucked up and shows a bit of humility. Should be back to “normal” by end of august according to him

Just had my first test this year and both my daughter and I are symptomatic so will be interesting to see if we have the vid or not. Problem is I also have flights to Vancouver booked for next week. If we are negative somehow and its just a cold and the symptoms are gone before next friday do we still go or not? WWBD?
