If anyone was looking for a cheap wagon that’s roomy, awd, decent power (300hp), check out the Cadillac CTS-4. I had never really considered these until a buddy got one and he really likes it.

The key is to find the sport model with the Recaro Seats and 3.6L. There was one in Winnipeg last summer but they wanted way too much for it.

Wild, I had no idea they were an option for the normal CTS. Google confirmed.

It never occurred to me to get a non-V wagon.

I agree, but for someone looking to spend $10-15k on a decent awd wagon, it could do the trick. Much more practical then a V for the winter if a Trackhawk isn’t in the budget.

Of course this isn’t a factor for you, but I was howling laughing as the CTS-4 took me from a dig and a low speed roll multiple times. Anything under 80km and mine simply cannot put any power down through the studded Nokians. He was quite pleased with these results.

I was actually heavily considering a cts-4 wagon, but read nothing but horror stories online... can anyone confirm?
I mean it’s pretty much ideal for my current lifestyle

I honestly don’t know anything about the drivetrain in them so I can’t comment. Issues with mine that would carry over include the rear view camera, and drivers door latch (internal sensor causing radio to stay on after door shut). From what I’ve read, both are relatively common issues.

My buddy has only had his for a few months.

Do you mind asking him if he’s heard anything regarding the oil passages/ premature timing chain issues?

That was the big one I read

Well imagine if instead of writing that letter to the editor, she just posts on a car forum for car enthusiasts. That's Kritafo.

Timing chain issue is a problem, he plans to address it if it comes up.

Not too familiar with Caddy's AWD system, but man if they had included that with the V's, would've been a pretty awesome winter vehicle, akin to a B7 RS4 Avant.

    Thanks.

On a related note, I do enjoy how a thread on "mainstream wagons they still make" is now mostly about out of production unicorn enthusiast vehicles. This really IS a car forum.

Since no makes a wagon for NA anymore, this thread would otherwise be dead. I can close it if you like? Start an "old out of production wagon" thread.

Yeah I guess Post #1 pretty much covered it. Subaru and Volvo and then GTFO. I kind of assume VW will bring back the alltrack/sportwagen soon. Or I hope anyway.
