I wouldn't be surprised Santa Fe, New Mexico's DA is up for re-election and this how she gets her 2 minutes of fame.
"On my watch, no one is above the law and everyone deserve's justice". And if you're charging for the death, then why not charge on behalf of the director who was also injured? If you can't prove attempted, how about aggravated assault or some shit? Sounds like a case where clearly they are being guided due to the harm the act caused and not the gravity of the act itself. And how the fuck is it 'Justice' to charge someone who already has the guilt of living with something like this (and likely paid a shit tons of money to the family already) and who clearly wouldn't have known that a real bullet was going to be put into a prop gun. That being said, this goes to show how important it is to follow the Canadian firearm handling rules, including NEVER to point a firearm at someone no matter what.

I'm ~75% fault at the Armourer. If it was a movie where the kid is shooting a gun, its 100% Armourer (possibly director also). Alec Baldwin is no kid, handled guns in movies before, should know better. So he shares some of the blame.

I think you guys just like saying 'armorer'.
I think this is a good point to understand.
How many shoot him up movies do you need to star in before you are a gun expert?
Is there an equivalent number of hours of call of duty you can play for that achievement?

Actors have no brain, would be a good way to assassinate the prime minister of Malaysia.
I get the sarcasm, but at some point a reasonable adult should have a second thought about pointing a gun at someone. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Now, IF he specifically asked the armourer if it was safe prior to the incident as he is not a gun expert and the armourer is the paid on site expert, then he gets off with a slap on his armoured wrist.

God dam Arec Bawrin
if a non celebrity accidentally killed someone they'd already be charged. Let the judge and jury sort out who's responsible.
Charges are long over due.

So real question is he on trial for pulling the trigger or being the producer who hired the unqualified armourer?
For those that are unaware, most movies use REAL guns and blanks. The actor is most likely aware the gun is real but no way he can confirm whether it is loaded with blanks or live rounds.

I'm no Baldwin fan but charging the actor when an armorer hands you a loaded gun... doesn't seem right
The Assistant Director Dave Halls is not getting the airtime he deserves. Set safety is a huge part of their job, and rumour is he told Baldwin the gun was cold
Ultracrepidarian
I think even if he hired the armourer (supposing they are actually qualified) they could prove gross negligence and shift most of the blame there. IF he knowingly hired an unqualified person then blame probably flips.
I could see Hollywood starting (if not already) using hazard assessments and OSHA lol.

He ain't doing time.
there must be a lot of people here who don't own guns. Who the hell points a gun at someone and pulls the trigger? To get a license here they hammer home gun safety the entire time before you can get a pal. Pointing an empty gun at someone is never acceptable. Grabbing a gun without looking to see if it's loaded Is never okay. Lose sight of the gun you just had? Check it again to make sure its not loaded.
If he wasn't a celebrity he would have been charged a long time ago.
