    Default The new BMW look

So as to not muddy other threads.

It appears that BMW is going full out down thus expanded grill look, now to be fair other manfacturers are found the same as Mercedes, Audi and others are sporting much larger grills in more and more models but BMW's look seems to be getting the most critical attention.

So what of Mercedes and Audi and the rest who are going to bigger grills - how much is too much and can it be done better?

I was considering putting a deposit on a 2021 M3, the AWD options are nice this year...

The M3 looks miles better than the M4.

You want the 2022 competition anyway.

Yea. I’m talking a big game but I had already pretty much made up my mind on the next gen M3 as my next car. I’ll probably have my foot in my mouth within 18 months.

I wish you could get the manual, AWD and Competition. That would likely sell more units in Calgary.

It would tick a ton of boxes for sure.

Not sure I would get manual even if it was an option thought. Because women.

The driving feel between a Bmw and most other cars is plain better, however I can’t compare newer versions but I can compare my e92 to cla250, miles apart in driving

I am liking the new M3 more and more. AWD, Competition in some sort of frozen colour. Gonna be nice I think.

Not digging it. To me, the strong vertical element on a sporty vehicle detracts from the expected "low and wide" look. I think it would fit an upright SUV more.

I initially welcomed larger grilles but it really is getting out of hand. Genesis is having a "hold my beer" moment with the G80 and their SUV. (Again, looks less excessive on the SUV). Lexus has tried their best, though the inverted trapezoid shape tapers the expanse, to the relief of all.

To make it worse, many of these grilles aren't even functional with over half the surface area actually just solid plastic.

    Delightful.

You’re right to point out that newer versions are different - they are almost universally regarded as having lost the excellent driving experience that bmw used to have.

As for your comparison of a rwd sport sedan being a better drivers car than fwd-based econobox.... no Shit. That’s got nothing to do with bmw vs mb though haha

You really expect the base of base model mercedes to compete with an m3 a few years older in terms of a better drivers car? Derp

Calling a MB an econobox is what lost me, an econobox is a Mitsubishi Mirage, sure the CLA is pretty base model compared to others but the overall feel not just drivetrain is such a different feeling, you can tell the e series bmws were very driver focused while the CLA is a get from A -B car

Try comparing to bmw’s new fed based 2 series econobox.

Just because it’s German doesn’t mean it’s not cheap.

Fanboys need to relax...comparing a CLA to an E92 is quite the stretch. We get it, you like BMW's. Nothing wrong with that, but at least try to make realistic arguements.

You are basically make the comparison between a 328i and M3 and then shitting all over the 328i like it's supposed to keep up or something.

Hey most 328 owners think they basically drive M3’s anyway

M3 looks ok, and I think it's like when Lexus did their debut their new front grill design in 2014. We all hated it badly, but it eventually grew on us and the refreshes helped too.

So in a few years or so, we probably will think it looks good.
