    Default Wireless Security Camera System

Have been looking at options for home wireless security systems recently and would appreciate any feedback before we choose a system. We are in an older house with a large detached garage and running wires isn't going to be possible. The mounting locations identified are going to be fairly high and should reduce the risk that the cameras are stolen but they will be outside so we understand that batteries will be a concern. For very clod snaps we plan to bring the cameras indoors and get them recording out windows so portability is important. The garage camera could be powered but would still require to be wireless as the garage has no wired internet. Looking for 3 or 4 cameras total which gives the coverage needed now and if there is the ability to add one or two to thats a bonus.

Does anyone have experience with the below options or any others that we should consider? Looking for 4/5 cameras.

I picked up the Arlo last week as they were on sale on Amazon. (Original Arlo, not the Arlo Pro 2). They do the job, but I am sure replacing the batteries will be an issue in 3-6 months. I will look into getting some rechargeable when I need to replace them.

For ones in shitty locations, you can get little solar panels for them. It may not solve the battery problem but it may extend the life of the batteries substantially.

Im more curious about the quality of the video in real life situations

I use the YI cams. Indoor ones are about 80 and outdoor ones are about 110ish.

Eufy (Anker) has a kickstarter for a wireless camera that's supposed to last one year on one charge.

Ours is indoors, and plugged in, so we don't need to change batteries.
Its HD, so its pretty clear... only downside is the microphone is a tad sensitive
We don't turn off the lights at night, so i cant comment on night-vision.
The app works very well on my phone to view.

I've had an Arlo set up for 2 years now I think. Ya, replacing the batteries is a pain but the cameras work really well. The nighttime vision is quite good.

I remember checking out Arlo outdoor performance and it wasn't great with our winter. Battery end up lasting weeks, not months.

Given those cells are expensive as hell, I end up with traditional POE domes instead.

I don't use mine outside. I have one of my camera pointing through my front window at my door. But ya, those batteries are not cheap to replace.

How is the performance through the window?

Even night footage? Do you have IR reflection off the window?

    Bump!!!!

Picked up a ring doorbell, works so well now the wife has given me the green light to add some additional cameras.

Was pretty much set with arlo especially at $269 for a 2 camera package. But after reading the reviews I'm a bit hesitant. Thoughts??

Anyone have feedback on those kickstarter cams yet???
