MSI was just outed scalping their own cards. Not like they were ever gonna get my business beforehand, but this combined with the shit they were pulling with reviewers paints a pretty bleak picture.
It was 4 graphics cards sold by a division of MSI which resells RMA'ed parts without the knowledge of MSI proper. I get people love to go on witch hunts but that whole thing is so overblown it's almost comical. I still can't believe how rage filled people are about GPU shortages. It's like all reason went right out the window.

Got my first 3090 today, I have another one on order (Asus TUF) and an eVGA 3080 coming too. This 3090 is Zotac, and I got lucky in the silicon lottery, as it runs really cool compared to others who have posted, and with stock clocks is putting up great numbers, some of the best on 3dMark, so I'm pretty happy with it. The difference it's made in VR with the current Reverb for me is very noticeable. Can't wait for the Reverb G2 now.

Will do, once I get my other 30xx series cards, I should have at least one 2080ti not spoken for.

Crap picture, my phone died and the replacement isn't coming until Thursday. I also had a NZXT X61 cooler die in the night, luckily I caught it right away. Just waiting for the 3rd thing to break this week (bad things come in 3s, I hope it's something cheap).

Curious why you need multiple 3090's and a 3080? Gaming rigs for the family?

There are 2 other gaming PCs plus mine, we look after our niece and nephews on most weekends, to avoid bickering over the PC, we built another 2 for them to use, plus a gaming laptop. Digital Combat Simulator using VR is a game of inches when it comes to performance/FPS/etc, large leeps in hardware make only small - but very important - steps ahead in performance in VR HMDs. Using only Reverbs and Index with Reverb G2s on order, they need every bit of performance from the CPU/GPU you can gather in the cockpit sims we use them mostly for.

It's an old hobby, being flying PC sims since the Commodore 64 days - also ran the editorial dept for www.combatsim.com which was based in Calgary in the late 90s and early 2000s, it was one of the largest gaming sites, and easily the largest simulation site online in those days. 45 mil hits/month, 1 mil unique hosts/month, 250,000 registered forum users, 2 tb data xfer a month, we were Nucleus' 2nd biggest co located server in terms of bandwidth, the largest was a very large porn site from those days, hah. I still have a lot of friends in the simulation business, both with the military/DARPA and in the civilian gaming world. Still do the occasional review, the difference now is I have to pay for the majority of the hardware, where it use to all show up, frequently unasked for, for free for review purposes.

Where did you order the G2 from? the two main sites seem sort of sketchy (cdw and pc-canada)

CDW has a very small retail business. They are big in the enterprise/SMB side of things though. Nothing sketchy about them.

PC-Canada, the day they announced Canadian pre orders. I had a family member pre order one in the USA for me (they live in Scottsdale AZ) as Canada was one of the last places to get pre orders. I needed at least 2 anyway...

PC-Canada is great to deal with BTW, I bought my first gen Reverbs from them, they had them for sale for $100 less than HP at the time, $748. They were brand new, "new/2nd" generation Reverb, which had a lot of the issues like the cable/etc fixed, issues which causes a lot of the "1st gen" of the Reverb - I'm talking about the original versions of the current/original Reverb here, it had essentially 2 gens that have come out so far, and PC Canada sold me the "new/2nd" one, I had them read me the serial number of my units before I bought them to make sure back when the whole "breaking Reverbs" thing was going on. Both Charlotte and Veronica @ PC Canada were excellent to deal with, both on the phone and through email.

Like I said, they are trustworthy, and were excellent to deal with, I was VERY specific with them when buying the Reverbs that they were the "new fixed" ones, as the serial number batch for both old, breaking ones, and the new, fixed ones, were available online. They went above and beyond checking the serial numbers on my units/boxes, to ensure I was getting what I wanted. Reminded of me what MemEx used to be like waaaay back in the day when they had the one store next to the Indian food restaurant on McLeod tr.

I have a different opinion of PC Canada - they have the case I want to buy in stock at several locations and refuse to ship it to me Nobody else has it in stock and they have several.

I have been trying to find a Phanteks P500a in stock for ages, and they have them at several locations. They won't ship them to me, I guess the item isn't eligible. I offered to pay the shipping, obviously. I emailed them too and they just sent me a canned reply without answering my question.

I actually found one on eBay yesterday via newegg so I got all excited and ordered it despite an absurd shipping charge - 30 mins later I get an email saying that they don't have any more so they can't sell me one.

It's the only case I have found that checks every one of my boxes.

Edit: They came in stock at newegg.ca so I grabbed one, but I am pretty sure that is just the phantom eBay case they cancelled getting added back to their system. We will see if they cancel this one too.

Edit #2: Much to my surprise, newegg shipped the case that was supposedly not in stock, so we'll see what actually shows up.

Hopefully this isn't true...probably just means they are waiting until 2021 which everyone was expecting anyway. Unlikely they would leave that much room for AMD to slide in.

    https://videocardz.com/newz/nvidia-a...-rtx-3070-16gb

Another possible explanation is poor yields with Samsung 8nm and they might go to TSMC 7nm.

If there's any truth to the rumor this will be the biggest disaster of an Nvidia launch I can recall haha.

Is that much ram even being utilized? How much RAM is in titan and workstation cards?

Maybe they figured theres no need for the extra cost and minimal benefits when they can't ship more than ~8% of their orders to a single vendor a month after launch.

The 3090/Titan has 24GB of VRAM. Hilariously, someone was able to install Crysis on the 3090 VRAM and play the game from there only

Huge amounts of VRAM is generally more important for creative software than games and I believe Ampere is primarily a workstation architecture. Many games don't use nearly the VRAM people think they do, and monitoring software typically reports what is reserved not necessarily what is utilized. GPUz shows the 11GB of my 1080Ti maxed all the time when I play COD but I doubt it is.
