Nice power despite less boost then you had planned. Is it just a stock 5.3 with boost? I can't recall.

Closer to stock but definitely not a crate.

Summit stage 2 cam, some top end stuff, gapped rings, in a aluminum gen 4 5.3. It's one of Dario's combos that's been done essentially infinitly by him and everyone else in the ls world.

Comparing the summit stage 2 to sloppy stage 2 in my tubers 6L truck, looks like summit stage 2 has a longer tq curve before tapering off.

We compared a couple pulls last night.

Hitting the dyno right after finishing the build is so helpful…shake things out in a controlled environment rather than on the street. I wouldn’t look at any of this as a setback, just one necessary step in the process. Hopefully you’ll get the shimmy sorted shortly and it sounds like you’ve found and addressed most of the other issues.

And your power target is no problem for a SBE 5.3 with a stage 2 cam and a 7875 so your car will definitely be there.

What are you running for fuel?

Oh I don't look at it as a set back, I know it was wishful thinking on my part but not realistic. Totally agree that it's a great environment to shake things out.

    Shell 91 for fuel.

Couple of my shitty videos from the other day. Got the car home last night, dialed in conservatively on the 7lb spring. Going to get some driving in and make sure no other issues pop up. Over the summer some time we'll turn it up some more.

They wouldn't know what to do/think.

I went for a quick drive around town today, like 20 mins or so and everything seems to work as it should.. I need to get a lot more seat time in to learn this car but it's going to be a blast even at this low setting..

That is a ton of power for a street car. Like you said, you'll need to learn to drive it all over again.
My vette made 450whp at trapped 125mph (sea level). I can't image why your car wouldn't trap 125 at Castrol, if the pass goes smoothly.

Ps. I LOVE how it sounds when the turbos spool up.

Turbo noises are are very addicting, I'm learning. I mean, I've had some stock turbo stuff (golf r, F150s lol) and supercharged (couple mustangs) but previous to this car I haven't even been out for a drive in a ls turbo set up. It's already my favorite and will only get better I'm sure.

Out for a drive today, wasn't building boost. Come home, let the car cool down (watched the raptors win!) and started checking the charge piping for loose clamp or something somewhere.

Couldn't find anything and was about to pop the wastegate off to check the diaphragm, turns out the lower clamp is missing altogether along with the fire ring inside

I'll be contacting VS in the morning haha.

I heard he’s going to buy my wagon when he sells the GTO.

    Smart move.

He realized project cars are futile when you can just get a Trackhawk that does everything. I realized this too but am poor.

It's no longer listed but my stuff is always for sale for the right price -- I never keep my vehicles long term, especially summer stuff.

And you're right, for me to have the kind of "pro-touring" type classic car I really want would take a 6 figure build budget. Old looks, modern power & conveniences isn't something I can't afford either.

Spend a little bit of time last night getting the motor ready to be pulled..

Started steaming/smoking pretty bad out of the catch can. Pulled the plugs, no real indication there. Boroscoped yesterday, no indication from that either. Thinking it must he rings on #8 (based on the plug differences).

    Soon find out!
