Damn that’s scary. That being said, I am old enough now to not let buddies egg me on doing something that I don’t want haha. Also none of my friends really do this anyway so I doubt we’d be going too crazy even if I do get out there ever. And even if I don’t, I am totally okay it with being a gravel queen. Lol.

Interesting question though, what does the insurance say in this sort of a situation? SOL?
I could have claimed it and the damage would have been covered but because I intentionally drove into the "hole" it would count as an at-fault collision. Kind of the same idea as all the people that drive straight through a flooded underpass and then get stuck / flooded out. I was lucky though because at the time I had a client that ran a detail shop so he fixed me up for less than what the damage was going to be running through insurance. He stripped the seats and the flooring out of the truck, cleaned up all the mud and put it all back together for $500. He said I was lucky as the mud line was only an inch or so below some electrical components that had they gotten wet would have been several thousands of dollars to replace.

How does that saying go, good stories are born from bad decisions? Something like that.

Haha absolutely. That's a good story indeed and lucky on the repairs too!

Honda Ridgeline: Best Pickup Truck To Buy 2021

    January 4, 2021
Just because you can doesn’t mean you will, despite what the ads on television are selling.

By our ratings, and the reality most people live in, the Honda Ridgeline is The Car Connection’s Best Pickup Truck To Buy 2021.

With a TCC Rating of 7.0 out of 10, the Ridgeline mid-size pickup truck puts everyday needs over occasional wants with a comfortable interior, plush ride, and tons of standard safety tech. No, it’s not a heavy hauler, the interior’s kind of meh, and the infotainment system is merely livable rather than impressive, but the Ridgeline gets most jobs done that don’t require heavy hauling.

It outscores the redesigned 2021 Ford F-150’s TCC Rating of 6.6. The excellent F-150 tows up to 14,000 pounds, offers six powertrains including a hybrid, and comes with all sorts of standard safety and convenience features, all of which makes it better for work. But it gets real expensive real quick and despite being a full-size truck, the bed in crew cab configurations isn’t much larger than the Ridgeline’s.

It could be the single greatest vehicular achievement in the history of automotive and I wouldn't buy it. It looks like someone hacked the roof off a minivan or something, I've been amazed how they took something hideous and made it more boring/hideous.

Well, they basically just hacked the roof off the Pilot didn't they? So yeah, makes sense. This class of vehicle isn't exactly about aesthetics anyways, IMO, so it's kind of a moot point.

Well, technically they lifted a minivan, turned it into a crossover, then hacked the roof of that and turned it into a pickup...of sorts.

I tried to convince my wife to get a minivan once upon a time. She told me to go fuck myself.

Or you could get off your wallet and buy the truck of the year.

    https://www.motortrend.com/cars/ram/...k-of-the-year/

The least interesting thing about our 2021 MotorTrend Truck of the Year is that it's powered by a 702-hp supercharged V-8.

The 2021 Ram 1500 TRX is a truck that resets the standard of what's possible. It is a game-changer, both on- and off-road: a truck equally capable towing and hauling as it is ripping donuts in a field or whipping sports cars in drag races. The TRX is not just the 2021 MotorTrend Truck of the Year—the unprecedented third consecutive time Ram has won—but the new benchmark that all supertrucks must beat.
    I like neat cars.

This is the correct answer. But ultimately I am only going to have one truck. And I don't think I would be able to get a TRX until next fall or something.

    So in summary:

Midsized trucks- best truck is not a truck

Half tons- best truck is monster truck

Got it. So which truck is best for truck things? Corvette?

I don’t understand the world; what if I want to adventure, but also truck? Wrangler and bronco: “omg! So much adventure!” ... as a truck? Ridgeline... perfect

There are three trucks in the world I find remotely interesting...the TRX, the Raptor and the ZR2. Everything else, including the Ridgeline is about as exciting as my garage door opener. Or maybe my hot water tank.

Yeah, I did a bunch of cross shopping on quarter tons and it essentially came down to:
Ranger: Oldest interior on "newest" truck, "floaty" suspension.
Colorado: Smallest interior, gutless in both gas and diesel.
Tacoma: Outdated basic interior, highest price point, best resale value. Terrible auto transmission.
Ridgeline: Most features, best interior, most hated cause "not a real truck".

I wrote off the Ridgeline for a while, until I saw it checked off all the luxury features I'd want. Heated wheel, cooled seats, nicest interior, nicest head unit. That being said, I promised myself to at least test drive all of them before putting my money where my mouth is.

You forgot the biggest issue with the ranger: if you hit something (ie. a bear) it takes over 3 god damn months for parts to show up

The RL drives WAY nicer than a body on frame truck. It has the most sophisticated (I think) AWD system as well...basically Honda's SH-AWD, so better for our winters.

There would be a few cases where the RL would be eliminated: if you need serious offroad durability, or you needed towing, or if you think the RL's looks are a problem. I couldn't care less about looks, since all trucks look pretty ugly by their very nature.

People hate RL's mostly because it points out the flaws in justifying their trucks as a desperate attempt to bolster their masculinity.

Corvette truck is always the answer.

2021 Ridgeline is 110% firmly on the top of my list for my next vehicle.

Pretty much an ideal daily driver for me.

    ZR2 is the best. PERIOD.

Lol in all honesty, if I could have, I would have bought a Raptor. I still lust after it every time I see it on the road which is daily. So in that regard, ZR2 is definitely rarer. I do wish the Chevy had more power though but ultimately it's a truck and I don't really care about speeding or going fast in it.

I've put just under 7K km's in less than 3 months on it and I personally quite like it. For two people (wife and I) it's fine, but if we had kids that needed back seats then it's way too tight (although kids don't need as much space). 4 adults for a long trip it's definitely not comfortable.
