You don't have kids right? I don't think there is any "quick and easy" when splitting up with kids. Although I admit I haven't looked into it. I like this wife and intend to keep her.
No, I don't have kids. We are DINKs. No kids. Ever.

The "quick and easy" part is tied to possessions. Kids complicate that, of course, but with an agreement in place at least you have one less thing to worry about.

And I'm not intending on leaving my wife either. But my mom's divorced twice, by dad once, my step dad thrice. I am well aware of the fact that things change and love can fade.

You are. Just because I'm also a cynic doesn't mean that you aren't. lol

EDIT: Hmm, I thought that perhaps the word cynic doesn't properly describe me and I'm correct on that. I don't think people act out of selfishness all of the time.

My position here is that, in the event shit goes south, the last fucking thing I want to do is fight over shit. So our agreement is pretty easy: we split 50/50 what was created during the relationship. There's a small exclusion tied to an amount of cash I had when we first got together, but it's not significant (but also not insignificant).

The entire point of the agreement is that we don't have to deal with a ton of bullshit ON TOP of the bullshit tied to separating.

Man that's a bit of a sad/cynical way to think about something.

And to answer that question; I do divorces.

What's more likely to let you keep the majority of assets? Non-amicable divorce or spousal murder? Asking for SKR.

A lot of people probably don't do prenups as well due to being insecure about their relationship. Using it as an excuse not to split because it will be "messy". Not really different than using kids as an excuse to stay together.

In some ways I see people who do prenups as a sign of strength in their relationship, not the other way around.

Wait till you’re unemployed, and get that sweet, sweet spousal support... then only take contract work and claim zero personal income... all business expenses

    Two things :
    1) I have a fisheries issue I need advice on, thank goodness you have that specific experience.
    2) your firm name sounds like some kind of awesome hip-hop biker gang if you separate the syllables differently.

Can you also provide pre-murder advice?

Related question: do you know of any shady life insurance agents?

Unrelated question: why don't we all just get together and admit we write our own bios and agree to write them in first person instead of third person.

Bonus: I put you in my speed dial just in case I find myself in the hooskow.

Haha. So basically if I have to use the word specialize, I'd say Criminal, Family and Personal Injury. And the others are the areas in which I am interested in, so I take on matters in these on a case-by-case basis.

I knew someone would pick-up on the remote and Calgary part, lol. I am too lazy to have it changed plus Calgary is sort-of remote relative to Edmonton. lol

Pre-murder advice is always going to be, 'don't do it.' Haha.

Currently no involvement with the shady life insurance agent types.

Kidding me? This is the only time I can speak about myself in third person and not seem like a douche. lol. Or at least a complete douche.

Yes, as fast as I am on Beyond - the phone number will likely be the quickest way to get a hold of me when in a pickle. Hehe.

You might want to add Criminal Lawyer to Beyond in your bio. A little extra juice never hurts.

Even better if it's an issue about a specific fish within the fisheries issues.

I just moved to this firm two weeks ago (although I articled with some of the same people in the same firm (different owner, location etc at that time)) and I was at a different place for 3.5 yrs before this until that firm owner decided to shut down due to COVID and go into solo practice. Then got sort-of head hunted by this firm and had a few other options on the go but ultimately decided to take these guys up on their offer. Even considered opening my own practice but felt with the current economical circumstances it didn't make sense to take on additional significant monthly expenses. Anyway, I shortened the name in my head at RRT. lol.
