    But $0.70 *1.40 = $0.98???!?!?!
Watch out for percentages, they aren't the same both ways.
40% Margin in this case is $.70/.6

    Margin is different than markup

Besides Sears, I heard Chili's resturants in Calgary (or some of them).
Also Boston Pizza by 16th Ave NW is gone.

All of Chili's Alberta locations, aside from YYC and YEG are closing. The Canadian menu at Chili's sucked, so can anyone be surprised??

Also, the Boston Pizza on 16th is closing as the area was sold to construct a new student apartment building, nothing recession related.

I think sears should just close it's doors as is, leave everything inside and turn into a paintball/airsoft company.

That place will die in that location. Could see it working somewhere around Chinook. Can't see it working there.

Those places rely on food and alcohol sales. No ones taking cab to Deerfoot Mall to get hammered.

Yeah I thought the location was fucked up. They're maybe banking on revitalization around that area, with mixed use areas (residential/office)?

I mean the Deerfoot City reno is a good idea, but I doubt it'll turn that area into the new Chinook. It'll be mostly NE residents.

No. Just a mall and offices surrounding them. Nobody is going to live 1 block next to the airport.

I don't know the demographics that lives near Deerfoot City these days but I don't think they are more neighborhood dive pub crowd than therecroom. They will have to bring a lot of act and corporate events to drag people there. Can't rely on locals.

Thorncliffe, Huntington and Beddington are all super close and have a lot of population for them to draw on. Probably more people live close to Deerfoot mall than Chinook. Key question is if this concept for the new deerfoot city will draw people in. I think it's got a shot.

I think it will do just fine. I live in Sandstone and frequent deerfoot city 3-4 times a week and it is busy as fuck, always.
