based on her needs, she doesnt need anything special. I would go to a couple of bike shops and see if there's anything that catches her attention. size and frame color is probably what she will shop for.

my wife bought a Specialized Sirrus X with 1x8 setup and she loves it, although we use it only for city trail rides and I even swapped her tires from 700x45c to 700x23c lol

This is what I want to do with her, she has been too busy with work to take 45 min to go check some bikes out. I told her, I'm not picking one for her. We will wait until she can sit on a couple

That’s also how women choose men.

I'm 5'5 and comfortably ride a medium frame. Most bikes I looked at I'd be in the middle of the small size range, or the lower end of the medium... So there may be options, whatever ends up being comfortable!

Haha bought one already, what size did she end up with?

Hey, she ended up with a small. I wasn't very involved because the kids were bing very difficult.....looking at it today with lthe seat up where she wants it, I think she should have went medium. Again, I don't know anything about bikes though.....

Small should be fine. With the sloping top tube on something like the Aspect 760 there will always be a lot of seatpost exposed. Small will give her better stand-over height, and probably a shorter more comfortable reach. Either would probably work. Scott size chart also has her right in the middle of the small range.

I was just going by the amount of seat post. It's about as high as it will go
