Over $100,000 in illegal donations from SNC to the federal liberals. Elections commision lets them off the hook, doesn't notify the public, and neither does the liberal party.

I've been looking at the polls and I think Quebec will play a huge role in this election. It's a liberal stronghold but if the voters decide to punish liberals and vote for the party that can beat them, then the Cconservatives will pick up substantial seats there. Or if the BQ has a big showing, or Liberals hold onto support, it will more firmly hold the Conservatives in minority territory.

Is there any reason Quebec to switch away from Liberals given the whole SNC thing has already proven Trudeau is their man? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Or do you think BQ will make a come back?
Does Conservative actually have a chance with Bernier out to PPC?
That's not what happened. From the article:This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
The federal Liberals were sent the list in a letter marked "confidential" from the Commissioner of Canada Elections — the investigative branch of Elections Canada — on Aug. 5, 2016. But for nearly three years, neither Elections Canada nor the Liberal Party shared that information publicly.
The investigation reveals that over a period of more than five years between 2004 and 2009, 18 former SNC-Lavalin employees, directors and some spouses contributed nearly $110,000 to the federal Liberals, including to four party leadership campaigns and four riding associations in Quebec.
According to the letter, the investigation found that SNC-Lavalin reimbursed all of those individual donations — a practice forbidden under the Canada Elections Act...

SNC-Lavalin avoided charges by signing what is known as a "compliance agreement" in 2016 with the Commissioner of Canada Elections after promising not to break the law in the future.

don't ask me to get into the heads of Quebec voters man, I have no insights there, lol. However, even if they won't vote for the Conservatives, they can still do the Conservatives a huge favour by voting for BQ. Or the reverse is also true. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Also from the article
How can it all be made up if it was investigated and the elections commissioner found wrong doing? And then someone was charged and found guilty?Despite the findings of the Commissioner of Canada Elections, only one person was charged. Normand Morin, a former SNC vice-president, was charged in May 2018. Last November, he pleaded guilty to violating two counts of the Canada Elections Act by "acting in collusion with certain senior officials of SNC-Lavalin" and for soliciting contributions "on behalf of federal political entities."

Another article that came out before the snc scandal broke
https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/ele...neau-1.4984823
Another article, this from 2016A compliance agreement signed by SNC Lavalin in 2016 refers to a system that involved "certain former senior executives" of the company. Employees were encouraged to donate to federal political parties, then were reimbursed by the company through "false refunds for personal expenses or payment of fictitious bonuses."
Under federal election financing laws, companies are not allowed to contribute to parties or candidates. The scheme allowed SNC Lavalin to circumvent the law by making political donations indirectly through its employees.
https://ipolitics.ca/2016/09/08/snc-...rty-donations/
According to the compliance agreement, “certain former senior executives” of the company, no longer employees, solicited other employees to make the political contributions over a seven-year period.
Some of the contributions — a total of $117, 803.49 — were reimbursed by SNC-Lavalin “in the form of false refunds for personal expenses or payment of fictitious bonuses or other benefits,” the agreement says.
In some cases, the reimbursements went to spouses of its employees for making donations.
