Well, I made it back from Vancouver today. If you don't hear from me for two weeks, that likely means I've been abducted for mandatory quarantine. I also booked the Vegas trip in May...but I made sure to purchase the extra insurance in case things go bonkers before then.

Booked the whole family for a vacation in the US in early April. We are flying thru YVR to LAX, so they're fairly busy airports with lots of travelers.

In case things get really bad in the next 40 or so days, we booked the flights and hotels such that we can cancel them up to a day before. I'm hoping there isn't some dramatic change in the virus though the fear of it will probably help the crowds at disney and universal!

Back from Japan last week, (Just Tokyo, long weekend for school) for sure not as busy as usual, those toy stores are usually full of loud hongers, but not this time, We did avoid buffet style lunch/dinner, my wife was a bit more panic than me, mostly stay in Ginza area, only went to Shinjuku for few hour in the afternoon.

Huge economic crushed for sure, but as a tourist, nice part is the Tax Free line up is so short...even the line up for most stores are short, but no big sale in Feb..

So, don't panic too much, stay healthy and happy!

Yes but my origin airport is YYJ, which really complicates travel plans. I briefly considered flying with harbour air to YVR to catch a better flight to PSP... but it just isn't worth it.

Really?? do you mean one way? Or without tax?

So, like Calgary-> Seattle -> Tokyo?

Since with Olympic this year, we are not going Japan this Summer, thus we went in Feb ..

    +1
PSP is still a good 90-120min drive to Disneyland.
Is it just the cheaper flights and maybe less congested airport?

I'm a left coast resident now.

In all seriousness, flying out of YYJ is really frustrating if going anywhere other than YVR or YYC. We try to make the most of it... if going through YYC, I will use the layover to see family.

Back on topic, I will report back if people avoid me (as an asian) at the airport or in disney. My wife is not asian so they may lump me in the "non asian so probably ok" category.

PSP is definitely not cheaper than LAX.

Sometimes I find Ontario, CA is only slightly more than LAX and is a much quieter airport. It's ~45 min drive to disneyland. No direct flights from here but if I'm coming from elsewhere I've flown there a few times to do events in San Bernadino

Headed to beautiful Casper Wyoming today. Lady a few ahead of me at the customs line was wearing a face mask. The customs guy was spending an awful long time taking her temperature, scanning all her fingerprints individually.
There is a great cowboy bar in Casper - I’m trying to remember the name but they are known for their ribs.

If you mean the Texas Roadhouse, I ate there, had the ribs. Was okay, but not anything amazing. Didn't stick around, finished the meal and went to bed.

Calgary to Tokyo - $468 - dates all year round.

They just closed all schools for a month.. but that price though.
