The S65 kicks the shit out of the M156 imo.
You can also get a 6mt or proper dct on the E92.. 10 times out of 10 I would go for an e9x M3 over any M156 amg. M3 over C63 is an upgrade for a drivers car.

I think what he is saying is that you have to go back to at least an E92 to get a BMW that's desirable. Once you move into the V8TT world, then AMG leaves BMW in the dust. BMW is such a train-wreck right now. It makes me sad, since I grew up loving the brand in the from the 80s onwards. But right now, at this point in history, there is not a single BMW that would I buy (with the exception of maybe the X7). In ever segment, there is a better option than BMW. E63 and RS6 are both better than the M5. The M2 is good, but old and at $100K for the CS, you are competing against better cars. 3 and 4 series? gross. Now their marketing department is jumping into the action to make the company look even more dumb.

My understanding is the S85 isn’t terribly unreliable on its own (hence why people like the manuals if you can find one). Expensive to fix yes but not unreliable. Standard BMW.
The SMG is bad for a whole laundry list of reasons.
