That’s what I’m getting at, the one poster mentioned he couldn’t find a place in Hawaii for less than $1500/night. One of his criteria was a gym. Like really, lol.
Yes one of my criteria was the most basic of services generally available in every condo complex. Oh the humanity!

I guess we know why you were so afraid of the sniffles the last 2 years. Sorry my lifestyle and vacation interests are so offensive to you.

Sugar beach bake shop decided they weren’t going to make their carrot cake this week, so wedding cake is now whole foods carrot cake. Gotta love island time.

Maui bound next week. First trip outside country since late 2019. First long trip with child (2.5 years old). We just got his passport last week (10 day service, which actually went much smoother than expected). Looking forward to it.

Car rental prices were not as bad as I had thought, ~$600/week for a full size vehicle. Accomodations = Vrbo. The unit we rented opens onto a lawn where my kid can run around. No gym though .

Did you drop off the application at a passport office, or did you apply by mail?

We applied by mail for our 4 month old and luckily my wife forgot to include the birth certificate so they sent it back. We took it to a passport office instead and they said if we had mailed it it would've taken 4 months, but only 10 days via the passport office. We went to the south location and waited an hour.

Things seem to be getting cheaper for Hawaii. Just rebooked the same hotel room for ~10% less, and car rental only $600USD for 8 days in a mini van.

Fck me, my wife applied for my sons at the office back in august. Was supposed to come first week of Oct, still not here. Hawaii is booked for 3rd week of Jan, so we still have some time. I don’t have high hopes though.

Can’t you show them your flights and pay for a rush?

    You have some time.
I had high hopes of getting our sons mail in renewal (he's over 5 now) quick but I'm in the same boat. Applied late Aug and still waiting. We travel to Hawaii mid Dec.
Had high hopes because we got our infants passport earlier this year just over a month with mail in.

We also applied for an expired renewal my parents via mail in mid Sept and they both got theirs back in 3 weeks.

Hit or miss or children take longer.

Apply in person at office. Showed up at 6am,10th in line, they opened at 8,out of there by 10. 10 days later pickup procedure took 1hr. Overall I was surprised by how organized the whole ordeal was.

Ya that’s what we’ll do if we don’t have it by December sometime. I don’t have a problem waiting a bit more, I’m just complaining about govt incompetence. Haha

Just received our kids last week. Wife had an appointment in September I think? Pretty quick turnaround for us.

So Maui is usually my staple, but for some reasons outside of my direct control Kauai might be on the docket for this spring.

Thoughts and suggestions? Places to avoid? Top experiences and things to do? What to expect?

Seems like a very different kind of trip than Maui.

Does Kauai still have that massive feral chicken problem? I've heard it can make the beaches a little unpleasant.

Is that an always thing or a spring thing?
