The "any" versus "all" debate wasn't mentioned in the Stewards' decision. Which means it didn't factor into the decision. If they had said something like 'we accept Red Bull's interpretation and argument' or 'we do no accept Red Bull's interpretation and argument', then that is confirmation of the in/validity of their point. To not mention it is like saying that they're not convinced either way, but the argument from Red Bull wasn't enough to factor in.

Also, it runs counter to Masi's post-race statement in Eifel last year where he said it is a requirement for all cars to unlap under the same rule set. This established precedent for the rule and thus cemented the way the rule must be applied.
Sure, but lets just consider that maybe the precedent setting application was incorrect, which kind of makes the precedent invalid. Masi can say what he wants back then, in writing its "any", and ultimately that interpretation in this case may be more instrumental than his right or wrong application in the past.

Now to touch on the scenario that someone else posted, could you imagine the butthurt if Sainz pulled Hamilton too?

To be fair, Hamilton was instructed by legal to not attend the post race presser, as well as not make any comments or social media posts whatsoever until the conclusion of the protest and appeal.

That said, Mercedes refused to do the FIA season ending championship photos. Neither their f1 or formula e cars made available. Spicy.
That's fair, I was unaware of his direction. I guess the optics of him being entirely absent vs. present and just indicating he can't comment on incident specific questions is still present. Either way, spicy indeed

I mean I am not in Hamilton's head or anything but I don't think he would have given a shit if Sainz had passed him too. Ultimately it was either a win or lose situation for both him and Max with WDC on the line. So if he wasn't gonna win anyway, I doubt he gives a shit who else has passed.

Once a mclaren man, forever a Ferrari hater. Wouldn’t happen.

Because the rule wasn't changed after Eifel and there wasn't any move to change the rule. Therefore, it becomes an accepted interpretation of the word "any" as it relates specifically to that article about unlapping cars. If the Eifel decision had gone similarly to the Abu Dhabi decision, it would work the exact same way. Masi in 2021 would say, "'Any' doesn't mean 'all' as set in Eifel 2020, therefore it is within the scope of the rules for me to allow only some of the backmarkers to unlap."

He also goes on to say that Max did go too far in Brazil with his general position that Max toes that line between aggressive-enough and too-aggressive and, from time to time, ventures into territory of the latter.

And that's an accurate position to take.

The only thing max has ever brought to the table is driving dangerously and expecting everyone else to accommodate him.

..had Bottas been anywhere where he was supposed to be, he could have helped but of course he's never around when you need him, at least not for Lewis. Wish he could have been what Perez has been to Max time and time again.
so rich that mercedes fans are blaming bottas after he finished 3rd in the championship and had 11 podiums this season.

I don’t think anyone is blaming Bottas. This was all Masi. Bottas could have prevented Masi’s decision from having an effect though, which is why I brought it up.

Ya I deff. don’t blame Bottas for anything. Have some wishful thinking that him being around would have been helpful doesn’t mean I am saying it’s his fault in anyway. Neither is it Checo’s fault in any way and he was doing what he should be doing. Now fuckin Masi, that’s a diff. situation all together.

    @Buster rejoice.

    https://www.autoweek.com/racing/form...ayem-headache/

New FIA president Ben Sulayem was asked by the BBC if Hamilton would face any penalties for skipping the ceremony.

"If there is any breach, there is no forgiveness in this," Ben Sulayem said. "Forgiveness is always there. But rules are rules."

Ben Sulayem stopped short, however, of setting groundwork for any fine or penalty.
