Daytime students are terrible to work with I agree.

We had a half dozen daytime students who had never taken a finance course come into 753 Problems in Financial Management this spring. Despite the course having 601 as a pre requisite and 751 as a strong recommendation the MBA office approved them into our class.

It’s a pretty hard course with very advanced questions and no lectures, just straight discussions and presentations every class. And these kids didn’t know what time value of money was.

They all dropped the course after the prof made fun of them for 2 lectures.

Haha, that’s hilarious. You should of heard all of those students who went into 753 thinking they were going to have aspiring careers in finance after taking 601 and having psych degrees. Glad they got a dose of reality. I got along with 3/46 daytime students. 2 dropped the program, 44 left.

Glad I’m into the evening classes now. Night and day difference between quality of students.

Edit: nvm, didn’t see you said they didn’t even have 601.

A few had 601 that still dropped. It was kindof funny though the prof went around the room asking everyone how many finance courses they have taken.

Had a few CFA’s in the room as well, was a hilarious time.

Glad Me and a few friends weren’t the only ones who noticed that the daytime students were particularly bottom of the barrel.

See I would put daytimes as the bottom of the barrel. I normally pay attention in the intro day and avoid the daytimes for the group work like the plague seems like they mostly are unemployed, International students or have useless degrees beforehand.

Evening seems to be all eng and geo degrees which I don't mind working with.

My business of oil and gas class this spring is an interesting mix. I figured there would be more students from industry taking it for free credits but there is only maybe 5 of us with industry experience.

Tough to say, I have had some great profs and some terrible ones where you could tell they would be better at teaching an undergrad course. Kanwal Bokhari comes to mine as the worst prof I have encountered.

As far as students I find it depends on the program. I think the accelerated and evening students I have worked with have been good...now the day time students.. that's another story.
Haha good old Kanwal! She gave us a pop quiz lolol

Jesus. Anyone that's done a higher tier MBA or eMBA have people like this in their cohort? Genuinely curious if there's evidence of idiots like that accepted to all programs.

Well there were lots of them in my low-brow MBA

You learn really quick who you don’t want to work with. And really dread random group selection.

Yep, and probably twice as many in the daytime MBA.

Just finished my last project for MGST 715 capstone class and I literally couldn’t even assign deliverables to my peers because of the language barrier. Once everyone understood what I was asking and they sent their parts over I had to spend over 8 hours editing our final report because they had so many errors in the language and grammar.

That’s the Haskayne MBA for ya! One big fuckin joke.
