Default CoC Hosing Anyone With a Vehicle (Parking Permit Changes)

CoC is finding new 'creative' ways to get their slice.

    https://calgary.citynews.ca/2023/01/...rking-permits/

Calgarians who live in apartment or condo buildings built after 1945 will need to pay for a new permit to park on roads within 150 metres of where they live.

The new Market Permit will differ in cost per month depending on what part of the city you live in, and is “based on comparable off-street parking options.”

The City of Calgary says a Market Permit in the City Centre will cost $150/month, inner city will cost $100/month, and in suburban areas will cost $75/month.

    ...

If you live in a detached home, semi-detached home, or duplex, you will be eligible for three standard permits and two visitor permits in your zone. If you live in a building, you will be eligible for one select permit, “which allows a resident or visitor to park on-street in their” parking zone.
    https://www.calgaryparking.com/parkingpermits

    https://maps.calgary.ca/CalgaryParking/

Looks like it's impossible to park in front of my own house for free now. 3 vehicles, that's $500 for 2 years, just to park in front of the house if I want to.

And I need to pay $150/per visitor permit/2 years.

    Council, you motherfuckers.

This has been a thing for years if you lived in a restricted parking zone.

You'd hate to encourage people to live in the inner city, or near transit right? Yikes.

So does that mean anyone who onstreet park their cars within CoC limit will have to pay extra?

The only difference is how many permit you can purchase based on dwelling type?

But does this turn the whole city into restricted parking zone? And does this only get enforced overnight parking only or 24/7?

If 24/7, those Indian Weddings are screwed if only 5 cars are allowed.

Users want restricted parking zones to prevent random people from parking there, but they don't want to pay for it. Understood.

User fees are great, we should have more of them.

My wife and I were fine having a permit, hell even paying for 3rd one when her sister says with us for awhile.

This is next level fuckery for RPP and visitor permiting

Isn't this a net positive if that means now there is a cost if you don't clear junk out of your garage for parking? And all cars now instead of onstreet will be on driveways?

Should make this program extend to entire city. Why leave anyone out?

Supply and command, friend. No one needs to park on the street here. But heck, I'm in. We park our vehicles in the garage

So only applies to highlighted zones? Doesn't apply to anyone else?

That's correct. Though I'm not sure what "Suburbs, All Other Zones" means, pretty sure condo buildings.

Is Calgary Parking information FOIPable? I'm wondering if it's some stupid situation where they, for example, are spending $1,000 to patrol our neighbourhood and only get $500 in fines, and somehow conclude the program can't survive and is losing money and need to make up for it by implementing new fees so the parking twats can keep their jobs.

    Wrong

A Market Permit is a single Parking Zone Permit which allows residents who live in qualifying large multi-residential buildings (defined as those that have four stories or taller in height or more than 20 units that are built after 1945) to park in a Residential Parking Zone within 150 metres of their address.
Those only apply to large apartment buildings outside of the defined areas.

No one is charging for parking permits if you live in a house in mahogany
