Angry Gas Price gouging in Atlanta

I think I have seen what end of the world will be like the last few days.

Atlanta gas station started price gouging @ $6/gallon after rumor of the city is out of gas get out of hand. After governor warn to prosecure the gouger, price went back down to $3-$4/gallon.

Also, at least 10 U.S. Airports are facing closure since the pipelines are cut due to power loss and they get no jet fuel to refuel flights.

It's not the size that matters, it's the taste it leaves in your mouth.

It's basic price gouging. As long as it still costs me $18 to do an oil change, just like it did when gas was UNDER HALF of what it is, NOBODY, can tell me that the price of oil is related to this, hence, it's price gouging.

^ You might be a moron.

The price of gasoline is a commodity traded on the open market. Gas is made from raw oil when oil demand for oil rises or supply for oil drops the price for oil goes up. Therefore the cost to make the gas goes up. In addition to that there is a shortage of north american refineries. If a refinery gets closed (for a hurricane) that means less oil gets made into gas and less gas means higher prices.

What i don't understand is how they can justify increasing the rates at the pump so quickly. The price the station paid for the gas your pumping into your car was bought weeks ago when the market price for gas was cheaper - yet they charge you a margin ontop of the current gas prices. I don't think they'll sell the gas they bought at todays higher open market prices at a discount if market gas prices drop before the station has sold its supply.

oil isnt the problem, its the ability to refine, i forget the number but the refineries have closed down south, so gas goes up because of demand
