    Default Internet wonky

I have shaw cable, recently my internet has been acting up.

Recently a lot of my torrents haven't been downloading, just cannot connect to tracker. Some of them still connect but at really slow rates. I've tried a lot of torrents so it seems like its not just a bad file I'm downloading.

More importantly, some poker programs I have aren't connecting (partypoker and skins). I need to get these back up and running asap.

I have no firewall running and I'm not using a router. Zonealarm used to run, i turned it off and still the same problem.

Web browsing seems ok, a little lag.

Make sure you temp internet files are deleted, check for spy/ad ware, check to make sure your connection is properly configured, reboot your modem, verify your firewall/router (if you have one) is configured properly, cabling within the household is up to par, your TCP receive is config'd properly, and that your machine is properly power cycled. These are a few ways to resolve your slow speed if it's not your shaw connection. Have you called shaw at all to verify the slow speeds? they can check in a matter of seconds.

I know that Shaw was apparantly monotoring and blocking ports commonly used by file transfer programs (or throttling the speeds)

I'm having a problem with my internet (shaw) as well.. in my case the internet will completely die! It will say "network cable unplugged". Nothing is unplugged and it had been working flawlessly for months before that.. any suggestions? Reboot the modem? how would we do that? we have 2 computers using the shaw maybe its the router as well?
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague.”

I called shaw, they said everything on their side shows my connection is fine. I've reset my modem and checked settings everything is the same.

WEb browsing is fine and now absolutely NO torrents are working for me, as well as I still can't connect to poker sites which is a pretty big problem.

Shaw couldn't offer any more advice other than try another computer.

I just formatted my computer and I am having the same problem. If I cannot get this to work I have to sign up for a phone line again and go dial-up since Telus is not available in my area. Please help!
