Default What engine shop in Calgary would you recommend?

I am looking to have my Z completely reworked over the winter, complete rebuild of the engine, getting ready for a custom TT set up as the next step. Aiming for 500-700 RWHP area.

Obviously not every shop has had practice rebuilding the VQ's... so who is the best that you've heard of in Calgary?

    Thanks for your advice guys!

Search for Z_fan's thread, he got his VQ built up at davenport.

Probably Davenport. They have done a 600RWHP 300ZX before. Z_Fan on the forum here.

I'm with the rest of them here, Davenport all the way unless you want to do it yourself, save the labour costs and use the money you saved on parts. Also makes you know your engine quite abit better for troubleshooting etc... and makes you feel proud of doing it yourself.

I think Zfan got lucky with his build at davenport.

My biggest fear I think is paying some place to learn about the VQ engine. I don't want to pay a place to experiment and test things, I need a place that actually has worked with the blocks and knows what they're doing.

I spoke with two of the places mentioned here in this thread, one I felt very comfortable with, the other... not so much. It doesn't make sense to bad mouth anyone's shop, just some have different areas of expertise is all. =)

I had my car towed back here on a flatbed, when I rebuild everything, the car will be a monster and then some.

    Thanks for your help guys!

I have had a few vg's done at D&W performance engines. They know what they are doing with engines. You tell them what power you want and what pistons/rings/bearings and they will definatly be able to help you along the lines of oil clearances and tolerances for no silica pistons and well pretty much any thing. They build anything from alcohol engines pumping out 1000's of hp to my vg with 500 to a stock rebuild. Nothing but good to say about D&W.
