Opinions of the new 2006 Subaru Impreza?

My opinion:

Exterior changes shocked me at first---now I kind of like it--I'm all for Projectors---yummy easier HID retro (STI need not apply has it has HIDs)

Interior: Not bad however on the cheaper side compared to other Japanese/German cars in the same price range.

Performance: Not sure have not took it out for a test-spin.

This thread has been done before. Most people and magazines I have seen are lukewarm to cold on the new styling. Subie guys will warm up to it pretty fast because if you've only driven Subaru's you have never owned a really nice looking car (SVX was close in its time). Interior is quite nice when you consider it originates from a car that is in the same class as a Civic. It's what's under the skin that counts and the STi & WRX deliver in the performance department especially the STi.

BTW: I've seen it in person and I still don't like the styling but I barely like the styling of the car I'm driving now so go figure.

Ugly. Mine is ugly too. But it is what is under the hood that counts.

Otherwise, it's still ugly. Bugeyes forever!

I've seen 2 newer STi's around town and the HID's make it look much better.

It's slowly growing on me, i've seen it once in person, but for sure I prefer the old GC8.

^^ i was about to say the step up from a 2.0 L to a 2.5 L in the WRX is pretty big. the front end has grown on me alot seeing the 06's out at the meets. the only thing i am not a fan of is the new style tail lights now. and the smaller hoodscoop. swap in a pair of 04/05s taillights and you will be laughing. and just for heavyD, if you drive a neon you should not be one to bash a wrx. j/k.

Apart from that GHASTLY front end, I like the new WRX's.... but that front...

^ the 06 WRX (and STi) look amazing in white. The front isn't ghastly at all.. I actually prefer it over my 05 now. (if anyone wants to swap? )

When spy pics of the 06 WRX facelift first started circulating around the web a while back, I thought it looked like crap. But now seeing it in person, it looks much better than the previous years. IMO that funny centre grille piece at the front of the car should be turfed but otherwise I'm pleasantly surprised. The pictures don't do this car justice. Is the engine basically a detuned 2.5L STi unit? If so, this car may be quite underrated in terms of hp and torque @ 230, 235 respectively.

I like the 2004 look more than the new style. I feel the newer one looks cheap. Unlike others, after seeing it quite a bit I still think the front is ugly, the rest of the car actually looks pretty cool or the same.
