    Question Max boost on a teggie.

    I friend of mine wants to boost his 99 Integra non-type R. But we can't decide whether to Turbo it or to Supercharge it. Anyone one on here done any of the above? What is the maximum boost that the internals on that engine can hold?? What is the maximum horsepower that the engine can hold on the stock internals?? Any and all help is welcome.

    What creates the best outcome of power on this engine. SC or Turbo? Money is not a factor. Although we want to see how far to take it on the stock internals.

    Thanks

    Your best bet is to search on Honda-Tech.... They've got most, if not ALL the answers to your F/I Honda questions

    Definately go turbo dude. You will never get the same HP or Torque per pound of boost from a S/C. The stock internals should idealy hold up to 12 psi properlly tuned on an LS and mabey 8-max10 on a properlly tuned GSR. IDEALLY. Depending on your compression and blah blah blah.

    it depends on if you have a LS or GSR.
    If your looking for maximum power numbers, I'd go with a turbo.

    If your friend has a GSR, I would consider the S/C route. I'll let b18c get into the details. haha.

    But if I had a LS/GS, I would definately turbo it. That motor is practically made for it!! haha.

    I would suggest to read the articles on Team-Integra.net, a really, really, really good site if you own an integra.

    LS built with turbo will have huge benefits and has strong internals and good compression. B18C I have no clue what would benefit more.

    I wouldn't use a "max psi" factor for determining the motors limits, rather how much torque can the motor put out before the stock internals break. All this assuming it's tuned properly (proper fuel, proper ignition timing for boost, proper fuel, etc.).

    12psi on a small turbo is a hell of a lot different than 12psi on a large turbo.

    From the sound of it, B18C would be a good motor for S/C, decent gains, better reliablility/maintenance if tuned properly. Somebody correct me if I am wrong.

    B18B = turbo. Supercharging it only nets minimal gains (like 25-30hp)

    B18C = Supercharging. Less maintenance and a lot of gains from a supercharger.

    B18B = LS/GS/RS
    B18C = GSR
    B18C5 = Type-R

    Someone on speedcowboys.com said there's a b18a. I have never heard of this engine. B16a and b17a yes, but b18a no. What is the b18a for, or does it even exist?

    The b18a engine is in the 2nd gen teg. I think it's in the 1990 Integra, has 130HP.

    Damn you guys reply fast. I'll ask dude what model his Integra is. So let me get this straight. Considering stock internals!!!

    If its GSR: We should supercharge it? If we went supercharging it would be a Jackson Racing, just because of the reliability and the vast knowledge out there. Can you intercool it, blowoff valve and boost control it?

    And if its a LS/GS we should Turbo it? I found a good kit made by Rev Hard. They pretty much supply everything needed.

    Sound good?

    Base model teg = turbo

    GSR: Depends on what he wants. Jackson Racing supercharger for linear power, lots of low-end torque, easier maintence. If he just wants a car that will be fun to drive with very little maintence and will beat most cars on the road the JRSC is your best bet. Also, if he is into the sleep thing he will like the JRSC. No FMIC, and no blow-off valve means most people don't know what they are up against.

    If he wants a balls out fast integra, turbo is the way to go. They are a little more maintence and are more worrisome because of all the extra piping and oil lines running around. If he likes attracting lots of attention then a turbo is for him. Nothing makes my head turn more than a huge FMIC.

    90-91 have 130hp 92-93 have 140hp. Those are the non-vtec G2 Tegs.

    K, I'll find out what model he has, and get back to you guys. He says he wants it more for showin off. So I'm thinkin Turbo. Thats what I told him too. But no matter what, the internals will hold strong at 12psi?? Or less?
