Whats the deal with salvage titles. Are the cars re-insurable or are they done.
example
1992 NISSAN 300zx , 2 dr, v6, 5 spd, 130000 kms salvage only , dark green , fully loaded , local car , mags ,.

salvage means it's been "Recovered"
If a car is stolen and recovered it's considered salvaged I believe.
I think that's how they consider the car a salvage.
Either that or the fact that the airbags have been deployed.
Because they still ahve to do an airbag check when a stolen car gets recovered so

Ariam_ma is right. Also if the vehicle was writen off dude to an accident or to much damage to it then who ever fixed the car can go and get a "salvage inspection" done which will allow it to be insured again.
In that add they are telling you at one time it was writen off.

where do you get this "salvage inspection" done and how hard is it???
salvage is rebuildable and you can register it if you passs the inspection
"Salvage only" they used to use to say "parts only"....and it has lately been replaced as "non repairable"
i doubt it is registrable (how ever you spell it lol) because if it was, it would say something like "salvage status" instead of salvage only
Its not registerable if still in salvage mode. Go and get whatever the $300 inspection is everyone offers to make a car road legal, have that done after the work u did to it is complete, then take it to eh registry and get the status changed.
it means car has been deemed unable to register for some reason..could be lots of reasons..flood damage, accident....anyways...majority of the time can be repaired and inspected and put back on the road...if you are doing the repairs..best thing to do is take pictures of before and after..recently looked at a truck from the states that was involved in the floods and was a salvage vehicle...ministry of transport came down from edmonton and looked at vehicle, took pictures and said vehicle will never be able to be registered in alberta...fixed or not...
I had a car suffer some fire damage, also told that it can never be registered again. If it says salvage only, be careful, that can mean that it has been deemed non-repairable, and no matter what you do, you can't register it. However, if it is simply salvage, then you can have it inspected, and re-certified. This will usually cost between $100 and $300.
For the most part, you want to buy a car like that because you have a nice clean shell to swap the mechanicals/interior into.

IT MEANS THE CAR IS MORE TO REPAIR THEN THE BLACK BOOK VALUE!!!!!!!!!, example a 92 240 sx black books around 1500 buxx for 200 000 kms, go look at the car to see if its worth it
