i haven't heard of anything higher than 92. running a higher octane probably won't do much unless you can change your ignition timing.

Mohawk by the airport sells VP Racing fuels. 103 octane unleaded, $200 for a tank.

Chevron in BC sells 94 octane gas. I think is $0.14/litre more than regular gas.

On normal cars, no difference. Most cars in Calgary already run full advance the ECU allows because of the shittier air up at this altitude.

On my car, yes. 92 octane fuel begins to detonate at around 12psi on my car with the advance that I'm running. With 103 octane, I've ran up to 28psi with zero detonation. I run 20psi on 103 octane to save the stock bottom end... that'll all change next year =).

12psi dynos at around 300rwhp, 20psi dynos at around 400rwhp, so the difference is quite huge. TQ jumps from 330 to about 420.

How do you know if your fuel begins to detonate in your vehicle?? Do you need a special device that mesures that? Or do you notice while your driving??

cars have knock sensors, as soon as detonation is detected it usually retards timing to compensate.
