Well... does it? I really CRAVE 94-Octane right now... wanna see if it will make a difference in my high-compression engine... hmmmm
Thanks,
Peter

i haven't heard of anything higher than 92. running a higher octane probably won't do much unless you can change your ignition timing.
i heard there's some place near the airport that has high-octane gas
i'm not really sure tho..
Mohawk by the airport sells VP Racing fuels. 103 octane unleaded, $200 for a tank.

Chevron in BC sells 94 octane gas. I think is $0.14/litre more than regular gas.
Look at my sig
(And Yes, my car is rated for 94 Octane)
Where did you take that picture dude? Is that here in Calgary?Originally posted by speedracer

hey rage, does it actually make a noticeable difference??Originally posted by rage2

On normal cars, no difference. Most cars in Calgary already run full advance the ECU allows because of the shittier air up at this altitude.Originally posted by crxboi

On my car, yes. 92 octane fuel begins to detonate at around 12psi on my car with the advance that I'm running. With 103 octane, I've ran up to 28psi with zero detonation. I run 20psi on 103 octane to save the stock bottom end... that'll all change next year =).
12psi dynos at around 300rwhp, 20psi dynos at around 400rwhp, so the difference is quite huge. TQ jumps from 330 to about 420.

I get 5% off at Mowhawk!!!!
HEHE!!!
Not that my car needs race gas...
celica girl,
how do you get the discount?
rico
Holy Hell...that was two years ago!
haha, OMG you've got to be kidding me
How do you know if your fuel begins to detonate in your vehicle?? Do you need a special device that mesures that? Or do you notice while your driving??Originally posted by rage2

cars have knock sensors, as soon as detonation is detected it usually retards timing to compensate.
holy shit this is an old thread
did u guys try the husky on mcleod tr. that has 94 octane..
Everyone goes there.
