Change the belt whenever you bend a few valves Seriously, if you dont know when it was done last, take off the cover and inspect it. If the edges look a little bit rough and a bit frayed, get it done right away. It's better to spend the money to have it changed, than to wait and have to replace your valves and maybe even a piston or two.

does your car have a silver sticker on the timing cover? if so whatever km's it says on it is when it was last changed. I found one real cheap at autovalue for like 17$ when i did mine
