Why not get the srt 4 instead? Im sure there are the same mods available for the neon as there is for every car. The thing is though the srt4 allready comes with half the stuf allready done, turbo, ram air hood, nice wheels. I think by the end of turning the neon into a show car with decent power you will spend way more that if you just bought the better on first. IMO

Hey man I drive a neon, 1st gen and I would say don't spend too much on an SXT since it's your first car and you want to mod. What you should do is make a list of the mods you want to do, figure out how much it will cost you to get them and have them installed. Then you will know how much of a chunk that will take out of your money, then you decide which ones you would want to do ASAP because modding is a long process. Show car I would say go with a 2nd gen neon which is before the SX and it will have alot more aftermarket parts available. If you get a 1st gen then you'll have tons of stuff available for modding, it will be cheaper there is just things you have to look for so you don't end up spending more on repairs than mods. If it was me personally I would go with a civic or integra, if you mod them right they look amazing, there is tons of stuff available for show mods and go mods.

Instead of modifying it, save your money until you have enough to buy a car that is even remotely sporty. That way, you have a car that was originally designed to go fast and will be able to handle modifications well. The Neon was never designed to be a sports car (not counting the SRT-4 as a Neon), so use it as a regular car for a while until you can buy something better.

The Neon weighs hardly anything and makes a great fast car. If it has the 420A engine, which I am not sure for the '03s, you can get a bolt-on turbo kit from Hahn Racecraft that will make ridiculous power on your engine for about $6k usd. And by ridiculous, I mean like.. I dunno, 500whp on race gas?
Then just get some lightweight 16s and a slight lowering job, and call it at that, since the car will always be ugly, but man it will be FAST.
