    Default Normal exhaust gas temperature

I've never had a need to monitor exhaust gas temperature up until now. As I've been driving, I've been watching the gauge go up and down between 600F and 1100F depending on engine load and speed mostly. I was wondering what a good operating temperature is.

    When should I start worrying?

Its different for every motor, if its boosted or not, whether you are running regular or premium gas, how far the ECU is advancing timing... what you described sounds about normal for a NA car, though.

Well it's a nissan engine with a tiny stock turbo. 500 degrees seemed like a lot of temperature difference, but if it's normal, then that's all I needed to know.

    Thanks.
