    MARKETPLACE CHANGES

There has been a recent trend in the marketplace where many users are selling a questionable amount of 'New In Box' products. The marketplace has become flooded by members who have been doing this regularly.

More often than not, these items are claimed as unwanted 'gifts'. These sales cannot continue to take place unless members are able to produce a legitimate receipt for the item. Nearly every North American retailer provides purchasers with a gift receipt for their item, and not having any proof of purchase is no longer an acceptable excuse for new(er) items.

The legitimacy and authenticity of such sales is questionable. Users who cannot produce proof of purchase on an item at the request of buyers will no longer be able to post that item for sale. Users may be asked to post a scanned copy or legible photograph of their sales receipt and provide it to the new buyer. Not having access to a scanner or digital camera is not an acceptable excuse. Please be aware that these guidelines extend to items that are 'like new', or newly released products (ie IPOD NANOs) and will be subject to the discretion of the moderating team.

In addition, the lifetimer rule will now be strictly enforced. Inclusion of a cellphone or cellular-based PDA's lifetimer is manditory. Ads that fail to follow this rule will be removed immediately without warning. A lifetimer of less than 1 hour, "low", or "I don't know how to find out" is unaccceptable. If you are unsure of how to find out your device's lifetimer, please refer to the manufacturer's website or owner's manual.

Members found in violation of the above guidelines risk having their posts removed, account restricted, and the notification of applicable law enforcement officials.

These new guidelines will assist responsible members in making informed decisions and purchase authentic and legitimate items. It will also help deter questionable transactions and those members who engage in these transactions.

Unfortunately it's too time consuming to chase after the few individuals all the time that ruin it for everyone else. However most members are genuinely good sellers who have really never had a problem with the rules before and in most cases probably won't have any problems with these ones. Really, all we're doing is trying to weed out the people using Beyond to make a quick buck at the time and expense of our members.
